There is no flooding in Nanaimo. The areas of Vancouver Island that are
flooding are 100km north, in Courtenay, where I was born and 70km south
in Duncan. Both of these problems are caused by man building dikes.
Thanks, but we are fine;
Gordon

I got my info from the CBC. I guess I misread it.

"The provincial government announced late Friday that it's approving disaster financial assistance for many of the flooded areas.

Eligible for the assistance are homeowners in the Comox Valley Regional District, Nanaimo Regional District, Cowichan Valley Regional District and Strathcona Regional District, according to a news release from the B.C. Solicitor General's Ministry."

Gordon is up on the high ground. No flooding up there. It was a combination of lots of rain, not enough drainage and high tides.
Today, everything is almost back to normal.
I'm in Victoria, about 100 feet from the ocean. No problems here.

If you are 100 feet from the ocean and it was flooding there I'd start building an arc real quick.

The Duncan area that was flooded is a very low lying area, almost swamp like. A little bit of rain there doesn't run off easy. I'm 28 feet above the water. So far, so good. We just had an earthquake up here a few days ago, also. I like it here, you never know what's going to happen next.
