After hugging my Palm Beast last night I was admiring the grille. Man, if ever there were a design made for turbulence, this is it. I'm no fluids expert, but I can certainly imagine how the wind would buffet and roll in the solid curves of the grille. Sure there are issues getting air to the radiator once you get past the grille, but we're not exactly inviting the wind to a party with our radiators, are we?

I like the look of the grille, but it just doesn't seem to make a lot of sense once in motion. Am I totally off base, or should I be poking some vent holes in the curve of my grille?

Trying to fix what ain't broke...

I just found out that my wife did not mail the air speed indicator. It is sitting here in a box without the address on it. I can not access your old email with your address because my laptop is down.

Please email my wife Laurie with your mailing address.

Sorry for the delay.

I just got thinking that an altimiter might be a better solutiuon for you as it will be more sensitive. I'll also look for one of those today at the airport. I*'m still sending the airspeed indicator.

Although air flow analyses and wind tunnel testing has progressed since the 70's, GM was not in the dark ages when it came to airflow design. The engineers and designers were and still are in a constant battle over that issue, I doubt that our grille is that much of a culprit. Also, I suspect a lot of the airflow comes up from below the bumper. Around that time we had cars with virtually no grille that still flowed well.
