I had a 1960 XK150 Jaguar back in the late 70's that started using a little oil . I told the retired old jaguar mechanic I periodically got advise from that the jag was using a little oil. His response was"What would you rather it use".
At the time he recommended Royal Purple, a paraffin based oil if I remember right.
I even use Mobil one in my 1948 Ford tractor
