Changed the oil and transmission fluid ( with filters) this morning. Everything looked real good until we were pumping the trans fluid through the lines and torque converter and noticed the oil cooler lines looked kind of ratty and rotted. Ordered new ones on the spot and will finish the process when they arrive. Times like that I do like having that cell phone handy. Normally I don't like to be that connected, but this was cool.

Strange how that works Jim. I was replacing my rh exhaust manifold gasket and noticed the battery hot wire to the starter was burnt and bare from the exhaust leak directly on it. Could have been more trouble.. No more leak and new wires... Glad you had a good day..

chuck,

Sounds like you had one too.

I'm lucky. My neighbor has a gas station and kind of does a Jim Bounds on me and lets me use his "toys". He also gives me technical backup when I get stumped and in over my head (which has been known to happen in a moments notice).

......well as a follow up. The new oil cooler lines showed up by FED-EX today. ....and just in time too. I was getting a little tired of 18 to 27 holes of golf a day. Will slip those suckers on ASAP.

Yeah it was a good day today.

Smile Does it count if I got to ride around in the Golf cart all day at Pull-a-Part? Yea, they let me take the golf cart in, pretty cool. Cool . I looked at 30 Caddys and not one useable column with good steering wheel anywhere. Most were gone to street rodders I guess.

Chuck,

I think Pull-a-Part, at least those in Atlanta, have a deal with someone to
pull the steering wheels before they put them on the lot; it's seldom I see
one. The EFI computers, throttle bodies, etc. seem to be gone too; I've
been there immediately after they opened rows of cars and found none of
those.

How did those cooler lines come shipped? Is there any rubber portion in the line to absorb engine vibration? Is there a benefit to braided flex all the way?

Randy,

They came shipped via FEDEX in a small box. I called JimB who had them made. I decided to order all new rather than try to reuse the old fittings and have them made locally. This way I know that they are right and will fit. I talked to Mike (my neighbor who has the service station) today and he felt that was a good way to go plus he felt that what I payed (including shipping) was fair and actually below the market price here in Richmond, Va.

They are a SS braid with a teflon rubber exterior coating. I'm not sure of the spec'g of jim's lines but they look just like the ones that are coming off as soon as it quit's raining.
