Well, the first week has come and gone and not bad. Today, I deposited $700 for the single Mom living in a GMC in the desert. I also received two air bags in the mail.
There are contributions from CA,OR,VA,NY,FL,NM,MI,MO,IN,TX and Australia.

I haven't figured out the tire transport issue yet, but I will. Yet, the campaign is not over as I have not heard from 40 states.

Do you recall when you needed something and didn't have it? I remember blowing a grand on something only to need $100 later to avoid that $35 overdraft charge. When you really are in need and can't get relief, life is hard. That's where I think our single Mom is and unsure of the future-how to move the GMC, the cost to get it running right, replacing one windshield-you know the drill. You all have been there with your coach. I just had to get towed on my trip because of ethanol clogging the carb-thought it was the fuel pump, but no. Extra cost not planned for.

So if you can make a contribution, please do. If not, perhaps you have some new parts lying around that you no longer need. She could probably use those too, like brake parts, or spark plugs, you know.

At the end of the second week, I feel obliged to tell her what you have done for her even though I will continue the campaign for a third week. So,come on, make her day, let's give her a thousand. Only 300 to go...........Thx, Michael at GEMRECS
Make check payable to GEMRECS - GMC Lady
Send to: 2211-B Roy Street, Houston, TX
Special thanks to those who have given.

Michael,

Could you tell us a little about her coach or perhaps post a picture? You mentioned that the engine was rebuilt (badly). Is it possible that her coach has some particularly neat feature, or maybe a unique work around that might personalize this even more? She clearly has some qualities that endeared her to you. Your effort here is commendable. It's nearly Thanksgiving, and though they are blessed with a GMC Motorhome, it would be much sweeter if that old coach could get this family around.

I remember the days when I didn't have two nickels to rub together. I didn't have kids then, but it was hard.

I like that you are doing this, and I think it's a totally appropriate use of this forum. By sharing information we are helping each other, why not extend that to REALLY helping a fellow GMC'er.

Thank you, Michael.

Yes Marcel, I still want the air bag so she will have a spare.

I did not take a photo of her GMC or ask for the TZE. Just did not know I would be doing this. Later, I began thinking we are a special community, unique in the industry and why not help each other as so many do on this forum every day.

I think the coach is a 74. It was uniquely painted but needs repainting. It has an awning and is a 26 ft GMC. Don't know why she bought it but apparently it was in the area and she thought it was a good idea. I recall in our conversation, she has done a lot of fixits herself-like it had three openings for the sewer system and she consolidated these into one and apparently had the holding tank replaced. That's about all I know.
