I have read about all kinds of systems for several years but have done nothing. Montana and the Rocky Mountains will get your attention. The Unified Tow Brake seem to make the most sense to me. Any experience or recommendations?

I Have had the Unified Tow brake for about 10 years. I have been very
satisfied with it. I have moved it from one car to another after my
granddaughter customized the front end of the first car. I like the idea of
just plugging it and going. I have it wired into the same 6 wire connector
as the lights for the tow car. I like the system.
