On the saga of the stuck ignition key...

It's not the lock cylinder. Nor the start switch. Nor (thankfully)
the transmission. All have been disconnected, and the thing
still won't turn. There's a little tab that the lock cylinder fits
into -- it won't go much beyond the lock position. Probably because of this,
we also can't shift out of "park". Since we can't get it out of park,
we can't get the upper housing "bowl" off the top of the steering column
to see what's going on in there...

I have to say, when we pulled the steering wheel and disassembled
all that stuff to get to the lock cylinder, we found a little shred
of pot metal broken off of something... and laughed out loud remembering
George's description. Thanks again, George. :-)

To be continued...

Ahhh, finally a solution. The steering lock pin had corroded
and stuck in the upper housing. That's why I couldn't get
the housing off, and why nothing would move as it should.
