Found these at Amazon, may be available somewhere else, but they make nice
replacements for the lights over the dinette and in the hallway. A
little spendy,
but I am REALLY happy with them.

As I reported earlier, I've "upgraded" to the slick looking tail-light
lenses that JimK (and maybe others) sell. They look great.

So .... I've got a set of original lenses, aluminum trim, and fasteners
that I hate to just throw away.

If anyone wants them, just say so, and I will send. I'd ask you to pay the
postage, but can't imagine that it would be much.

Terry,
Do you find this type to shine brighter than the older ones? I have just purchased several new leds for the interior to use in Quartzsite this Jan.

Terry,
What color is the light? I've tried using LED bulbs but the harsh,
almost bluish white light is unacceptable. I've always felt that when
someone invents a warm white color (same UV range as tungsten) LED,
that this is what I'd switch over to regardless of cost.

I don't need the tail lights -- just offering to pay shipping and hold on to them -- someone will want them later.

I've tried using LED bulbs but the harsh, almost bluish white light is unacceptable. I've always felt that when someone invents a warm white color

The Blue-ish light seems inherrent of the process to make light for the LED.

I think it would be easy enough to find a filter to get that warm white effect.

I am split on the filters.

Gatsbys' CRUISER has Florescents that are cold white, great for when you really need to see what you are doing. I also put in 4 wall light florescents ( long story ) which are standard base, 12vdc, 15w, put out 60w light and the light is warm white. I especially like these when watching tv or lounging.

The night light in the bath module, connected to the floor light ckt so I don't forget to turn them off, are the bright white you speak of but they are behind a florescent lamp bezel which seems to tone it down a bit. Lots of light for a night light.

Dunno if a warm white fixture will come in the near future, they will probably slap a warm white filter on them anyway to get the desired effect.

Has the LED world changed? No matter what LED I find, they are not up to par with incandescent yet. These you have found dont have the lense so the light may disperse better but does is fill the coach with light like incan does?

Advantage of the older LED is power economy but as these start to put more light out, the power use increased greatly.

May have to rethink what is used for power conservation.

Peter, Dennis, and Rob ... I had another thought. I'm going over to
Miguel's shop in the next day or two. He may want to hold on to them, or
I'll send them to Dennis. I'll let you know.

Thanks,

Fin.

These are nice too - http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50119407

They are 12VDC so you can direct wire them and toss the transformer.
I glued mine to a metal strip to slide under the fan frame and tapped power off my Fantastic for an overhead light - real EZ.

I found a bunch of LED lights at West Marine to try in the G. Biggest
problem I've come across is that there are a lot of desirable(?)
lights that are just battery operated, normally at 4.5 vdc.

I'm using a 4"round to replace the cockpit lights but need to go down
when dark and try to read using it. Will report what happens.

I think that they are brighter, Dan and they produce a white light as
opposed to the yellowish light of the
incandescent bulbs.

I agree, Steve, These are much more white than others that I have
seen. I really do not detect
a blue cast to them Will try to take photo tonight and put up on the
photo site.

Ok Terry. I saw some like that at Quartzsite last year. We tested them in the coach and they did seem "white". I did not buy them but Doug and Len did. All of mine are the older type that still cast some blue tint. the bluish light does not bother Teri and I but I know it does many. We read every night with them while dry camping. I now have enough to light up our entire coach. I will start switching over to the ones like you have when we need more. I am using the 36 count lights now with great success. They light up the entire room but have the bluish tint. Thanks for posting the link to those that you have.

We like what we put in the back bedroom.
We are both "in bed readers", and it is really tough if you can't get the light where you need it. So I had been doing an irregular search for a solution when I found a 5 Watt (really 4.6) narrow beam(36*) spot.
<http://www.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=4026556>
A better solution than a 50Watt QI in the same package.

Then I went looking and found a track light system that could mount these lamps(?).
<http://www.direct-lighting.com/2633FC>
I bought them with the hope that I could remove the transformer without difficulty. It was no problem at all. I replaced it with a pull-chain switch so lights could be shut off from far below as it is mounted to the bottom of the port side overhead locker.

It has been a great success.
The lights do exactly what we had hoped and are cool to the touch if you reach up to re-aim one.

I haven't figured out what to do with the third lamp holder - yet.

Steven-
So what you are saying is those interior LED lights make it seem like
you are over dosing on Viagra with the extreme blue light effect?
Don't ask me how I know.
See, I don't have complete CRS!

I found a bunch of LED lights at West Marine to try in the G. Biggest
problem I've come across is that there are a lot of desirable(?)
lights that are just battery operated, normally at 4.5 vdc.

I saw a site on the web the other day where someone had used these types of lights and stuck a voltage regulator in them to get them to run of 12v. There were using a LM7805 for the 4.5 volt models.

Jim,
I have a story I sometimes tell about Viagra. Emery sometimes
recalls it and it is funnier when he retells it.
Really though, I went to GE lighting school through Dunwoody Tech
institute back in MN. Learned some very interesting stuff. Cool
white flourescents are the longest lasting and brightest in the tube
family, they are also the harshest. Food, people, make up, colors
etc, all look different under them. That's why so many people buy
stuff at KMart, then bring it back because the color didn't look right
when they got it home. They also have an effect on people's moods.
Several major employers in MN switched over to WWX (warm white delux),
also known as Sylvania Color Brite and some others, and they found
that employees attitudes were better, attendance went up, and
atmospheres were more relaxed.
Those LED's are about as harsh as they can be. On several of my dual
bulb fixtures I have one LED and one tungsten and that softens things
up a bit and I can also just use one side when I'm trying to conserve
batteries.
John Ruff is getting into selling LEDs soon and I hope he remembers
lessons from last year at Quartszite. If anyone can find good, warm
LED replacements for our 1156 sockets, it will be him and the price
will be right.
