Due to some recent unpleasant experiences associated with the GMC
net, I have decided it is time for me to unsubscribe from the net.
Looking back at my computer files on GMC information, I find that I
have not saved any information from the GMC net over the past few
years. The people that are new owners are the folks that will gain
the most from the net. After owning GMCs for the past 25 years, I
have had the experience of replacing or repairing about everything
there is associated with a GMC. I have had the good fortune of being
able to maintain my GMCs without having anyone else do repairs, with
the exception of front end alignments. The only time I have ever had
to call for a tow was one time when the fuel tank transfer valve
failed to work properly and my engine quit because of no fuel. I was
only ten miles from home, so I had it towed home rather then trying
to figure out what was wrong along the side of a busy freeway. I
have more revisions/modifications to my GMC than I care to remember.
Some good, and some not so good. The things that have given me the
most problems on my GMC are my own modifications/additions I had made-
not OEM design or equipment.
One of my major enjoyments by participating in the GMC net was being
able to share my thoughts, inventions and modifications with the CMC
community. Over the years, I have given numerous seminars, written
many technical articles and examined many GMCs for new or potential
GMC buyers, all with great enjoyment and with lots of thanks and
appreciation. The reason I am leaving the GMC net is because I
became aware of some private e-mails where a very well respected
member of the net made the following statement:"I'm being drawn,
reluctantly, into controversy about Chuck's front wheel bearing
greaser xxxxxxxxxxx." "From the first time I heard Chuck mention it,
I had a lot of questions/qualms. Now that it is being produced and
I"ve read the instructions that accompany it few of them have been
resolved. Not for my benefit (I have no intension of EVER using one
on an in-service bearing), but for those who may attempt to do so
without fully understanding the possible hazards: xxxxxxxxxx.
xxxxx, but I'm really concerned this one is Ill conceived and likely
to cause more problems than it solves." So for all you folks that
purchased one of my front wheel bearing lubricator, you best return
them before you damage your GMC. It is currently being redesigned by
another engineer so I hope all the "many hazards" will be resolved
and it can help some of you people that may find it useful. I just
don't have the patience to keep trying to justify the tool usefulness
to a person that has never seen one,let-alone tried one. However,
this is a free world and he has the right give his opinion to anyone
that ask.
So, fellow GMC netters, you are lucky you have a very intelligent
person on the net that is looking out for all of you folks that may
not be able to correctly judge things for yourself. To prevent any
more chances of me causing harm to your GMCs, I am resigning from the
net and will not be sharing any more of my "Ill conceived"
inventions with anyone except some of my local good GMC friends.
Anyone that has questions for me relative to the GMC, you can call,
email or talk to me at future rallies. I will not discuss anything
more relative to this subject and hope everyone else does the same.
GOOD BYE FROM CHUCK AULGUR

Chuck, You are one of the guys we WANT on the net. Your ideas are great.
I've seen your stuff and it is very well thought out. Don;t let one a**hole
get your goat. Each and everyone on the net gets to make their own
decisions. I pay attention to the DOERS like you, not the wannabe engineers.
Please reconsider.
Thanks

Chuck, Say it isn't so!
Your ideas and inventions are one of the reasons I believed the GMC has (had?) a bright future. I hope you will continue to create your innovative creations... even if you do not continue with the net itself.
Keep in mind in the past many ideas and inventions where considered "Ill conceived" by the "establishment" until proven -- now they are considered revolutionary.
While I hope you stay around... Thanks for your contributions to the GMC world.

Chuck -- The vast majority of your contributions to the net have been well over my head, but that hasn't stopped me from reading them and enjoying puzzling over them. You are one of the many innovators that our GMCs have been fortunate to have, and will need to have, in the future to stay on the road. Thank you for your past contributions and I hope someday you will have the desire and comfort to share your ideas here again.

I couldn't agree more.
What's going on? Is it that some people feel they have to elevate themselves
by putting someone else down? I think so. I fail to understand why some
people feel it is their "manifest destiny" to set everyone else straight
whether absolutely safe or not.
We've see a few great people sign off from here. Who's loosing? We are.
Who's winning? We're not nor are those pulling away.
It's time that a few on here start acting like mature, decent individuals
instead of like children on the playground trying to prove who's right or
wrong without real knowledge and experience to back it up.
The delete key doesn't work well enough to cover up inappropriate behavior.
As a former colleague once said: "Without empirical data a person really has
little to say of substance."

Chuck--I've resigned from this net at least 3 times and I always come back. It's a very strange thing that happens on these venues. I've been guilty myself of being rude and challenging and I regret that deeply. I have no idea what happened in this situation, but I think you have the deep respect of a lot of folks and your ingenuity is second to none. I hope at some point to meet you in person.

Losing someone who has a combination of creativity and the technical skill to take an idea and convert it to steel is bad enough. To see incivility get a foothold on the GMCnet is even more alarming as it has the potential to undo all the efforts of those who have gone before.
If you are getting aggitated by what you are reading, PLEASE take a walk around the block or go wax one side of your coach before starting your reply. The continuation of the GMC community depends on sticking together.

I agree, Randy, I hope you never have to go out and wax one side of an A321, Pick a 319, maybe less work. Bring a good ladder.

Oh golly, someone speaking with wisdom and practicality.
The more I thought about it the more I looked at it as you have it here;
you're on target.
Still, seeing good folks go isn't that pleasant. It also hasn't hurt that we
all be reminded to watch how we put things.

Say it ain't so! If some blow hard gets on your case cause he doesn't like your ideas tell him to put it where the sun don't shine. Most folks like to see or read about your ideas weather we agree or not. Heck my wife tells me I'm full of it most of the time.

I see no reason to ever leave the GMC net. There's a lot I read, there's a lot I ignore. I've been blasted off the net...whatever, I am who I am and I do what I want to do, I love all of the good info I get out here and that's it.
For the people that have blasted me......that's OK, they have their opinions and I have mine, PLUS, I'm not afraid to blast someone out of the water OFF of the GMC net.
Life is too short to be bitter and to hold grudges....all that stuff does is hurt the person that is ticked off......
Select what you want to read, ignore the rest...99% of the people out here are fantastic.....don't worry about the 1%....it's not worth it.

Are you saying that someone made a private comment to someone else,
and that someone else sent that to you? If so, that sounds like a
private conversation that probably should have stayed that way. It
does not sound like someone was trying to undermine you publicly.
I'm sure people say things about me at times that I'd rather not know
about. I put that in the category of asking questions I don't want to
know the answer to. And I KNOW they say things about the things I say.
Chuck, I hold you in extremely high esteem as you know. But I think
you are over-reacting to this. I don't think we needed to hear that
GMCnet was no longer meeting your needs--that's a private and internal
decision each of us makes each time we log in. Personally, I find that
GMCnet is one of the few ways I can stay in touch with my GMC friends.
Just as with my non-GMC friends, I value the friendships too much to
be put off by the occasional offense. After all, my friends put up
with me, too.
Now, if someone was harassing you directly, then that's a violation of
GMCnet rules, and the complaint should be directed to Patrick (not to
the list). If they were talking behind your back, then hold it against
them, not against everyone else.

And,
If people resigning from the net really bugs you or makes you tired,
ignore them, don't read it, delete their post etc. This works both
ways Gene.
