We have finally made it back to Houston after 5000 miles in the "Yellow Rose of Texas" GMC. Most of those miles pulling a parts laden 6x12 trailer.

I was pleased to find gifts for the GMC Lady in the mail box.
So far, we have $265 with more in the mail. These contributions have come from FL, NY, VA, CA, and OR.

For those who did not see the original post-this is a single Mom with two kids living in a GMC in Needles, California(desert). Kids are 7th grade and age 5 She home schools the kids. She spent $8000 on an engive rebuild which did not work. The "mechanic" tried to fix his screw ups but hasn't. She wants to take the GMC to Miguel in Upland to get it right. She has one tire off the rim and many other GMC needs, hence this effort to assist her. She did not ask for help but I am sure she will appreciate the support of fellow GMCers.

There are some new offers of 16.5 tires, more than she needs, but, I will "buy" the extras from her as I need some for the GMCs on my lot. I even have some rotted tires that I don't have replacements for. I know transport is an issue, but I will look on U Ship and other sources to find the best price.

I know she has other needs like a passenger windshield which is expensive, so we need more $$ donations. Thanks to all who have responded-makes you feel good, doesn't it!

try fedex ground I have found they are about the cheapest for ground transport among the major companies. also does that mechanic who charged her 8k for a motor that doesnt work have a shop? she may be legally entitled to a refund, she might want to look to the B.A.R. for help, maybe this guy has had other complaints, and maybe she might recover some of her losses, I know its a long shot but you never know. 8 grand for an engine is a lot of money for an OEM rebuild, hell for 8k you could get a high hp crate motor...

Crooked mechanics used to take money from my mom all the time, its one of the reasons I learned to turn wrench. When they see a woman coming and think easy mark, often not considering that they often have kids and a small income. An example, once I found that on my mom's old lincoln which she had paid a shop 800 dollars for brakes, didnt do the job, and just pinched off the brake line so effectively she was driving on front brakes only for 2 years. God has a special place in hell for for those kinds of mechanics...

Your email is bouncing my message to you, guess your mailbox is full.

On another note, do you have any aluminum and fiberglass pieces or can

COMCAST what is your email address?
Be sure you type gemrecs@yahoo.com as I am receiving other mail okay. No, mail box is not full.

Yes, for $8k she could have had a stage 2 Dick Paterson engine. She said she is mad at herself, that she should have known better.
