As of January 1st 2010, all rv air conditioners as well as residential will be required by law to convert from R22 to an "environmentally friendly" refrigerant.
Dometic claims a total redesign of their air conditioners and Carrier claims something less than that.
Replacing the original still functioning Duo Therm "shaker" has not reached the top of my improvement list. But maybe it just did.
Carrier said they will still offer the low profile 15k unit with no price increase.
Given the past track record with automotive refrigerant changes, I have to wonder if the new ones will perform as well.
