I had the radio on the wrong frequency and missed reporting in through most of Illinois.

I found a good WiFi spot courtesy of the State of Iowa so I decided to stop for the night.

Ken,

Looks like you forgot something and had to turn around and go back home at first or were you just testing things out?

Headed anywhere exciting?

Have a good trip.

Ken, I think you are operating on the wrong frequency half of the time. Very Happy
Are you delivering the old Toyota with bad heat? I told Fay to hollar at you.

I'll keep that in mind. I'll see how far I get today. I really hope to get to the middle of Nebraska by quitting time.

Actually I'm between Des Moines and Council Bluffs right now.

The crosswinds are terrible today. I estimate 15 to 20 knots. I'm going to try to put on some miles tonight hoping the winds die down after dark.

Ken, I see you in Council Bluffs. Don't forget Wally. He is very easy to get to as he is right off the interstate shortly after you cross into Ne.

Somethin' strange goin' on with this APRS stuff. A couple nights ago, Ken was located in Fernly, NV. The next morning he was located a few miles west of Wells, NV. That would be a 200 mile backtrack over night. Last night he is indicated as in a Walmart parking lot in Dixon, CA. He is indicated as still being there tonight. I hope it is APRS and not Ken that is having a problem.

Jim, I did not experience the problems tracking Ken that you did. He made it to the rally today. I just visited with him and Terry on the phone. Ken's radio jumps frequency when he starts the motor home. Sometimes he forgets to check it and reset the freq. That undoubtedly is what happened when he left Walmart this morning. We conversed each evening by phone. I enjoyed the trip about as much as Ken did. He will catch a train Sunday heading home. His laptop crashed his third day on the road. That is why he has not been on the net. I appreciate the things that Ken does for others. He is a real GMCer.

Jim, Ken is back on the air. Take a look now and you can see where the rally is. Just talked with him on the phone. So far, they have no internet at the rally but are working on it. So, we can blast Gene Fisher without him retalliating right away, as he is there also. Very Happy

The SOB coach I was driving had a solenoid (relay) rather than an Isolator to separate and combine the batteries. They combined when then key is in start or run. Actually the relay coil was run off of the ignition circuit. I had the APRS stuff mounted in the back of the coach running off of the house system so I could not see it while I was running down the road. I would occasionally find the radio off frequency after running many hundreds of miles thinking it was sending out fixes. I think what was happening was the starter noise on the +12 volt feed to the radio was getting in to the radio causing it to change frequencies. This is the same radio I use in my Blazer and Colorado and I never have had a problem in those vehicles.

If my PC hadn't quit I would have sent fixes on my way home using UIview32.

Tomorrow I'll probably have to tear the laptop apart and find out what the issue is. I believe it has a bad CPU.

I had a great time with a lot of nice people at the 49ers rally. They welcomed me in the SOB even though I do not belong to their club. What a nice bunch of people.

What time did you get home last night? I tried to call at 11 cst but got your ansering service. Maybe we can hook up on Skype tonight after I get in from church. If not, I will buzz your cell phone.
I knew the 49ers would treat you well. They are a great club. Looking forward to seeing several of them in Quartzsite in Jan.

I do not have Skype right now. My laptop is broken. I have not tried to fix it yet or even looked at it.

Your best bet is to call my home phone after 9PM when it is free for you. Let it ring for a while. I do not always hear it right away.

I got home about 9:00 PM after going out to dinner with my wife.
