Well, the search goes on. I went down to Sacramento with intention to buy the '76, 26' coach that was on Craigslist for $6k. Supposedly only 28K orig miles, though I don't have the experience to tell if that's accurate. That's what the ODO said, though.

However, regardless that the owner (Scot Rogers) believed the title was in his name, the CA DMV says not. The paper title he has is actually in the name of the second previous owner. It's signed off to the guy that Scot bought it from, but was never transferred through the state. Scot took it to DMV after he bought it to transfer title and get it registered, but it wouldn't pass low RPM DEQ limits, so the paperwork process stalled, though he had paid the fees and thought the title transfer part would have been processed, but it wasn't. At that point he decided to sell it (business in trouble, needed cash).

He did some work on it (new airbags, rear brake cylinders, new hard headliner, new tires, not sure what else), but I didn't have a lot of confidence that the electrical system was up to driving back to Oregon in the rain, plus the title uncertainty, so I passed. He took a trip to Nevada in Sept (60-day trip permit) and said it ran well and strong.

It's a side wet bath with double bed in back. VIN TZE166V100002.
It has orig steel wheels, Onan runs rough, interior a bit sad, carpet should be ripped out. If the 28k ODO is accurate, and I don't have any suspicion that it's not, it would easily be worth the $6k, assuming the title situation can be resolved.

So, I'm still looking for my first coach. Prefer 26', good engine/mechanical, trashed or gutted interior because I want to rebuild a specific layout. Anybody know of one that fits that bill? Oh, and either on the west coast or running good enough to have high confidence of getting here (Oregon).

J,

I have a '73 that NEEDS a rebuild of the interior. Twisted Evil It runs just fine, and is close to Portland. I would sell it for less than the $6k but it does need paint and boogie pines. (I have a line on a rebuilt set.)

Here is an old picture (I haven't posted any newer pics):

Hi Gene,

I called to get more info but didn't get through. Left a message, not sure if you got it.

Anyway, I'm going to head down to the coast on Wednesday this week to check out JR Wheeler's coach near Coos Bay, and wanted to see if I could look into the one you described at the same time.

Please write or call any time.

not what number you called, but I am in CA just now at

925-447-8079

I just tried to call you, but you were gone.

Jerry wheeler is a friend of mine so don't want to mess with that deal.

but

I think you should give those folks in Florence a call and go see the coach
I have never been in the coach, but I think it has a lot of upgrades like a
new rebuilt engine.

they got discouraged with an alternator problem, ( said I would help them)
but they bought an airstream trailer and just want to get rid of the GMC.

if you like it, make a ridiculous offer to them and I am sure you will get
it

OK, it would have to run awfully good to make it back to Oregon but otherwise it seems like what you want.

And there's a lot of GMCers down there to check it out for you

Dave & Ellen Silva Hertford, NC 76 Birchaven, 1-ton and other stuff Currently planning the Great american Road Trip Summer 2021 It's gonna take a lot of Adderall to get this thing right.

Thanks Dave, but just too far away. Even if it would make it, me getting the time off work to drive it back would be the show-stopper.
