I'm looking for some ideas on this. I have a old Zipp Dee awning that has a reciever slat that has some of the ends of the channel broken off. This means the ends of the awning fabric is kinda flappen in the wind. Has anyone repaired something like this, or is it something I would have to buy a new slat from Zipp Dee? I have this condition on both patio and window awning.
I was thinking of working up a half aluminum tube set up, say 6-8" long that I would screw at the ends into the below receiver channel. The screws would pass the chording on the fabric side of the chord. It would just replace the missing aluminum on the slat. Only thing would be it would put a hole into the awning fabric...maybe not a big deal, could silicone around that penetration to prevent additional tearing??
