There is one person on the list that seems to disagree with every
little thing that I say.

That same person has also driven Steve Ferguson from the list and two
others that I know of.

I have decided to follow their lead and quit posting. it isn't worth
all the crap.

I may be back someday but time will tell.
Meanwhile if anyone wants to get ahold of me you have my email address.

Ok, name names and let's get rid of the offending person. I have been here since the beginning and although I do not post much anymore I look and read every day more than once.

The ones that have left are the more productive of the group. Well almost all of them except Steve and that Stora fella. (obviously tongue in cheek) Love ya both.

Richard,

I agree with you, Emery is a wealth of knowledge and is accurate to within
+- .66 of one percent. Emery is one of the four or five whom I'll read with
confidence.

It would seem we should figure out who the "guy with a burr in his saddle"
is and make a suggestion.

Why does one person think they have the right to attack anyone who come into
sight, friend or foe?

As I've said for a long time; it takes all kinds but some you'd rather do
without.

Byron

Emery;
I do not disagree with everything you say and have often posted,
thanking you for your help and information.

One of the greatest short comings I find in any public forum and in the
GMC archives is the amount of false and mis-leading information. I have
often emailed the authors asking for clarification on these errors and
have always gotten the answer, that no one has the time to correct them.

On many of the Forums, including the Olds Engine Forum, all the
information is dated and many corrections are noted. I find this a far
more valuable and safe type resource, especially for newbies.

If you consider my ideas, crap, that is very sad for all of us. If you
consider my information on oil temperatures vs thermostat temperatures,
crap, where are the errors? You find my posts on fan clutches "ad
nauseum", and, this is CRAP. An insult directed only at me.

To be stuck at the side of the road, when there is a simple lock up for
a fan clutch that is not working it really lame. You can lock it with a
coat hanger or a piece of rope and some duct tape, if you have to. To
even think that Heavy Duty means longer MTBF is an error. It will
probably fail sooner because of it's much higher duty cycle.

Ferguson's repeated "tests" on "faulty" fan clutches don't even deserve
comment. There are millions of fan clutches in service and a vast
knowledge base on them. It is a simple matter to find and read the
graphs and information on the many GMC clutches. To not do this and get
a proper understanding, led to the wrong conclusion, that an entire
batch of clutches were faulty. Ferguson left us with this impression.
How incredibly sad and misleading for all of us. At least Ferguson
learned what a hand held tachometer is during the ensuing discussion and
went and bought one. I assume both he an you concur on his conclusion
that only a Heavy Duty clutch is suitable? None of the other's "worked"
in his test. If it didn't couple at 95% it wasn't "working." JimK
generously supplied free clutches and shipping for this fiasco. I can
only imagine that we now have an exclusive source for the correctly
tested and documented clutch.

I wonder why they even manufacture the "wrong" thermostat for a 455?
For one to nit pick on the temperature of a thermostat and use the
factory recommendation as the only one to use is a little odd. Why
don't you accept the factory recommendation on a fan clutch?

Again, thanks for all your wisdom, most of which is still available in
the archives. I hope you will soon return.

What windmill will I tilt at next?

Larry,

I agree. No need for caustic remarks, especially ad nauseum. Anyone
who antagonizes so many of our most faithful members cannot go unchecked.

I'm very tolerant, but this has gone too far so I'll no longer answer

Ken;
You are mistaken. Emery used the "as nauseum" to describe my posts on
fan clutches. This is why I adopted the remark. I will now remove it.

Alright guys.
I consider both of you as friends. This lining up by others to take one side or the other is unnecessary and counter productive. I do not always agree with Rick, or Colonel Ken but I get over it as do they and we continue on.

Ken,
Gordon did something for you that you never realized. We almost told you at Santa Rose but decided to keep it secret until time is right. We figure that will not be for another couple of years. Just take my word for now as you will be surprised when you find what Gordon did anonymously for you.

I do not always agree with the positions Emery, Gorgon, Ken, Rick, and others take, but I do listen to see if I think am wrong. Occasionally you win me over but most of the time you do not.

I have learned to state what I think and try to back it up with facts, experiences, or logic and reasoning. After that I forget about it and just continue on from there.

I did not talk to Arch for a couple of years after a GMCnet incident but we finally came around and we were friendly again.

So guys lets just make up and learn to continue to disagree on some things and agree on others.

Enough said.

Ken B.

I agree with you and like you though I may disagree with what some here say or do, most of the time I will hold my tongue because God forbid I might be wrong. .....but there is no place here for the numerous personal attacks in the recent past and present. Yeah, what some do with their coaches scarre the heck out of me BUT it is their coach and none of my business. I have seen too many good websites fold because one person went on a crusade to become top dog and the only way to do it was to personally attack those there until they decided to just leave. If this person (and I think we all know who it is) has been warned by the website to stop and won't then it is time to temperally drop or ban him (or her). Maybe let that person cool off and then be allowed to return.

Emery,

I understand how you feel, turning this venue into a personality war is just not what it is here for-- it happens to me all the t6ime.  When I find someone does something to start the list down that path I choose to not participate and just pull away.  I usually only get involved when someone gets the list off on a questionable tangent too.

this venue is here for enjoyment not self serving politics or whatever.  You gotta let someone who has their head inserted just go their own way.  As many have said, they learn alote from your insertions and thats what we're all here for, not for the other stuff.  Just blow it off and stay on your path.  You have helped me in the years past more than I can say, you know what I mean.  You have so much to offer, so much wisdom (not stroking you in any way) but really, you add to the collective in a way that few can.  You need to be above the petty stuff.

All of it gets old sometimes you gotta remember though the goal.  Hey, you had said this to me in the past-- guess it's my turn to read it back to you!  I don;t even know what this is about, don't have the time to read through the thread but whatever it is it just really does not make to a hill of whatever.  As Fleetwood mac says, "go your own way".  It's the right way to be, we all use your ball to learn, don;t take it home!

This is sad to say the least.

This site should be for a good exchange of technical information, not a place to argue or challenge people, we all have different ideas, approaches and funds available, so the way we all do things can and will be different.

I know I CLOSELY watch what I post because I've been blasted really good off of the GMC net a couple of times and that's ridiculous.

For those of you that feel you need to challenge and argue with everyone, YOU should be the ones leaving the site......or just GET A LIFE !!!

I have two older siblings that would rather have a good family argument vs a good time.......guess how often I see them.....RARELY.

We're all mature adults out here, I ALWAYS review my posts after I write them and BEFORE I hit the send button.......I think this is a good habit to get into.

A post that Emery is leaving because of a few idiots really raises the hair on the back of my neck.......what he should do is post those peoples names.
