It's really nice to see the work of a true craftsman! Just look at the dash layout/fabrication.
I wish I had near that amount of talent and patience.

Nice site. Lots of pictures to look at for "hours." I would like to do something like this. (I do not have all the skills or equipment needed though.) This is lots of work and $$$. Too bad he lost a lot of the pictures of the earlier steps.
Looks like he may have built a race car motor for his motorhome. (Maybe he'll go for the land speed record.)
Some interesting statements found:
Quote: | ...
5. REAR SUSPENSION:
Redesigned and machined bogie pivot pins, bushings, thrust washers, and seals. Made bushings and thrust washers of bronze, and used O-rings for seals. Fabricated special retainer for maintaining “zero” endplay. (Original bushings were brass, and had steel shims for endplay.)
6. FRONT SUSPENSION:
Front hubs machined and modified for better bearing life.
...
7. WET HUBS:
Designed and fabricated retainers and windows for “wet hubs.” (Uses 80/90 gear lube for rear wheel bearing lubrication, instead of grease.)

Anyone know anything about any of these mods?

I could only dream to be that good and have the time and cash
Very very interesting story about his Mercedes, which apparently is going to be his next project . . . what a lucky car . . . next
time I beat myself up for developing an emotional attachment to
a vehicle I will remember this.

Incredible!
I'd really like to know more about the trans mod to a 6-speed and what those ratios are. I'd love to have Manny chime in on this part.
TRANSMISSION:
Valve body modification.
Various internal case modifications.
H.D. Kevlar clutches.
34-unit sprag.
Variable pitch converter (creates a 6-speed transmission.) Larger oil cooler and lines.
Transmission is now controlled by ECU engine management system.

I sent an email to Ron asking him to join us so he would get a million emails, just have a Q & A on the site.
Hope he joins in, I would like to learn more about his project.
