We completed the wheel alignment on my coach at 8:00 p.m. last night. I
think I cranked the torsion bar adjusters 6-7 times on one side, until I
got the ride height even.
I took it out of the shop this morning and backed it up over several
full measure 4 inch by 6 inch short chunks of timber. I ran the rear
wheels back and forth over these blocks while having the Harrison 4-bag
system inflated to 120psi. After all the horror stories, I wanted to
see if I could bend it. This was not a wise move as one of the blocks
managed to flip around end on and jam itself between the two wheels on
the passenger side. Both wheels skidded as the 4 x 6 was at a 45*
angle, hooked in the tread of the tires and tight against the bottom of
the bogie box. I had to use my two bottle jacks on the frame, release
the air from the bags, let the air out of the tires and then split
pieces off the block to get it out. The shop owner was most amused at
this performance in the rain. He was even more amused when I stripped
off my filthy wet clothes and drove away in my shorts and "T" shirt. I
didn't want to get my coach dirty. The Harrison 4-Bay suspension came
out unscathed.
