I put together an electrical grounding seminar for the Eastern states rally last week. One of the questions that came up was. "Where exactly does the house battery negative cable attach to the body on a GMC with front batteries?"
Well I know where the rear batteries attach but not the front ones. I checked two coaches with front batteries at the rally and they were attached to the steel frame, not to the body.
The 1975 and later wiring diagram shows the negative cable attached to the body. The 1973 and 1974 is less definitive showing only a ground symbol.
I would like to know where GM attached the house battery negative cable on early coaches with front house batteries.
I am beginning to think GM may have attached it to the steel frame, realized their error in 1975, and moved it to the body on 1975 and later coaches.
I would also like the same information on 23 foot coaches of any year.
Thanks

In my case, I can't answer, because all my stuff had been redone
before I owned the coach. At present, my house battery negative is
under a bolt on the frame tripod, with a ground strap from there to
the steel frame right under it, and another strap from the frame to
the engine block. That became my central grounding tie point for the
two systems. I like the single point because it's easy to keep an eye
on it and keep it maintained.
I also attached my engine battery ground to a bolt on the engine
block, which was not how the factory did it. I don't know where they
attached it.
