Sometime awhile back, I ran across some pics of a GMC with Corvette side louvers (at least I think they were (1980 or so) Corvette - at my age the memory isn't as great as it never was) - They were, as I recall, painted to match the coach color and looked pretty good (again as I recall).
The pics were posted on the GMC Motorhome Photo Archive - I tried to find them yesterday but for some reason couldn't come up with those pics.
I guess my question is two-fold...Does anyone remember exactly where those pics are located or anyone have any info on that type of installation, and secondly, are/were those louvers as effective as the ones sold by Jim K or Jim Bounds.

Steve,
I seem to remember they were on Bill Bryant's coach -- but can not find the photos.
As for effectiveness -- some say a vent in the wheel well liner works just as well.

Steve,
I found the old thread and the post by Bill -- but the photo link shows no photo in the database.

Sorry about that. Was cleaning up some of the stuff in the photo area that I thought was of little interest. I just put it back, chech the link below.
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=5293
Yes they are from early 80's Corvette. They are plastic and I painted them body color. Ordered them from a Chevy dealer and wanted a more "automotive look" rather than a "boat look", just personal preferance.
Another thing I did was to add a 4" fresh air (dryer) duct from the bottom lower left radiator frame ending at the rear of the engine (near the distributor) to hopefully supply cool air to the TBI electronics mounted on the rear step.
Any questions, just ask.

Always risky business, there are 843.5 of us out here, and every time you
delete, move, change a pix, the link changes, and our web pages go dark.
Awesome responsibility isn't it, being tooooo neat ;>)
and you thought that was *YOUR* photo site

Bill -
Thanks for the info & link....Looked at it and it's the site (photo's) that I remembered seeing. They really look great. I assume they work OK and weren't a chore to install.
Am going to order a set and hopefully can get the proper paint color to match.
Thanks again.

Steve;
I have an uninstalled NOS set of those vents that appear to be identical
to the ones on my 1984 BlueWater 19' boat. All the marine suppliers
seem to have them.

Steve,
You may not want to paint them. They are black, I left them that way for a while and they looked fine, just decided to have them blend in a bit more.
To install, cut hole (as high as possible) to fit louver carefully. One side of louver has a lip that will hold that end. I just made 2 clips that use the existing holes and clamp it from the inside. Very simple and works great.

There was an after market product for a 38 Chev that fitted on the front fender just above the bumper they were Chrome and was nice. That I am going to try. They look almost like the Corvette. Jack the olddog

Hey Rob, The ones from West are just a tad too long. One fin has been cut out and the flanges have been trimmed off.
Looking good but way more hassle than it's worth.
I'd go the vette route if I do it again. There is a guy on eBay selling re-pro 80's louvers in the $40. range.

Bill -
Ordered a pair yesterday. Should have them in a couple of days.
I think I'll try them without painting just to see what kind of appearance they present in the black color. - For some reason, I just didn't care for the 'look' of the chrome (or chrome plated plastic) as much as the ones you put on your coach. I was trying to find something that was 'different'.
Thanks again,

Hey Rob, Sorry for any confusion. Both West Marines in town only had 1 louver in stock and no idea when another would be coming in to make a pair. Everything about them was too big. Will post some pics soon.
