Trying to remove the cockpit headliner in order to install more insulation and a center mounted light fixture. I was able to remove the Drivers sun visor but have had no luck in budging the right side. Any advice on how to remove that sun visor would be appreciated.

I have not been there done that, but KenH is on the road, seems to me it was
something like "twist the visor it's self around until it comes down. I
would call JimB.

here is KenH's info on how to rebuild them

I think I've not explained my problem properly.

The Arm of the sun visor attaches to the coach ceiling with a 3/4" bolt. This bolt is what I am trying to remove from the ceiling of the coach. I am unable to get the bolt to break free. Using PB Blaster would be fine except there isn't anyway to get the Blaster up to the threads.

I have in the past, found that you can put a wrench on it and then
turn the visor and wrench together. Hold the wrench position and turn
the visor back. Reposition the wrench and turn both again.

This should allow the bolt to be removed

I recently took mine down but had little problem with the visors. The right
and left just screwed out...but the pass. one had some heavy rust on the
internal spring thing.
Don't be afraid to 'come on to her' ....and watch your knuckles when it lets
go !

I also had to really crank on the sunvisor bolt as the spring assembly does make it hard to turn. My driver's side came out easily, but it was the passenger side that gave me fits.

Just keep working on it slowly and you should eventually be successful.

Oldngray:

Yes, it WILL come out but may take a big wrench and some tugging to do it. Also there are lots and lots of threads, like an inch + that will have to be turned out. They are fine threads, so lots and lots of wrenching.

Here is my headliner and insulation photo album, might give you some ideas:

Here is another one on sun visor repair, if internally broken:

Well I was unable to get the bolt loose so I worked around it. Was able to fabricate a mount which I installed in the center of the roof to which I refastened the Headliner which bowed. I then used a piece of Cypress to make a mount for the center light. Pulled some wires and reattached the headliner and all is well.

Thanks for all the encouragement, for a while I thought I was never going to get this job done.
