It’s that time of year again and all GMCers are invited to attend an
informal work rally in the Dayton area on October 24th. The site is at
Farmersville, OH, which is SW of Dayton. Easy access from I-70 and I-75,
parking on gravel for about ten coaches with access to a large metal
building and inside work space if needed. Compressed air, tools and
electricity are available and there should be knowledgeable owners and
helping hands for your project.
As with previous rallies, we will elect chef's from those present & cook
out on the grill for lunch; potluck dishes and beverages are requested
and burgers and dogs will be furnished with contributions appreciated.
Limited overnights on Friday and Saturday if desired, more details to
follow. Please mention any projects that you want to work on, remember
to keep the scope within a one-day framework.
No coach? No projects? No problem! Come and enjoy a day of GMC chatter,
help where you can or just watch and ask questions. Hosts are Mike and
Vickie Kilroy, 12360 Hemple Road, Farmersville, OH 45325 Please e-mail
mike@KilroyWasHere.com so that suitable arrangements can be made.

Larry,
What I and other vendors are saying or holding back from saying is like this ;
Should you need parts that are fair priced and is obtainable from the
vendors that specialize on the GMC, give them a try first.
I help out people every day and on weekends solve problems and many
times tell them the part # so they can acquire them locally.
Were not asking people to be like sheep's and line up and purchase
everything from us. I only ask you to spend few minutes to look around
and give us a try if there is value.
Lot of the people do not have any idea as to who the GMC
vendors/repair shops are.
I personally do not care how much a person spends at our facility or
order. To know that were here to support their needs is all we ask.
We offer free catalogs which most have no idea.
When I purchased our first GMC in 1980, I made it a point to know each
of the suppliers for the GMC.

Jim;
I agree with this post 100%. Many of your other posts appear in the
form of a demand. Seeing your post as follows, once in awhile does no
harm. Seeing it every time someone asks a question is totally
unacceptable. You've got the webmaster in your pocket, so there is not
much we as a community can do about it. For me, having had 4 screw-ups
in a row, I would suggest you take more care with the business you have,
instead of pouncing on every potential customer with both feet.
Now I expect another public and private deluge of email both condemning
me and telling me about their personal horror stories. So be it.

Gordon,
I feel that I need not hide or hold back as I know where I stand is
not far from normal.
If you would have explained to me that you were going to use our
exaust kit on a 3 tank system , then you woul not have had the
problems you had wit short pipes and other short commings. Several
others have orderd these kits and did not have problems since they
informed us up front as to what they were going to do.
Gordon, you bring on some of these problems youself.
I know other suppliers are not intrested in you .
There are lot of people on the net that do not appreciate your rant,
so that makes 2 of us. I'll do mine.

Giving me the wrong length for the collector was your first mistake.
Cutting the side pipes 6" short was your second mistake.
This was my biggest problem and had nothing to do with having 3 fuel
tanks. Claiming you can use the band clamps on both the front and the
rear of the muffler was something else that you never resolved to my
satisfaction. You said you would provide me with pictures showing this
installation with 2 band clamps. You never did.
I'm not going to waste my time listing all the other mistakes, lost
credits, defective parts, etc.
As I have never ordered from any other supplier than you, your statement
does not make any sense whatever.

Maybe you should find another supplier as we cannot do anything right.
The transmission you brought down for trade had a gash on the machined
surface so it was worthless.
This should make things even.

Since this is a personal dispute with your supplier I would suggest
that you take this off the GMCnet and send your emails directly to
your supplier.

Okay, somehow I got in the middle of an email dispute and am trying to determine what steps transpired and how to avoid a similiar occurrence in the future.
Earlier this morning, I was checking the forum via Eugene's mirror image @ birdfeeder.net. This is the site that I use to access and post responses to.
I responded to "Supporting the Jim's & buying from them [message #59705]" by Don Tracy.
My response in post #59710 as a reply to #59705 was simply stating that I had no idea of what the initial post was about. I still don't know.
So, how do I avoid this in the future? ( Other than the obvious choice of complete abstinance ). ?????
FWIW

ps. On one hand there are a lot of hijacked threads while on the other there are a lot of postings that are reponses not linked to the original posting. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Gentlemen,
This dispute needs to be taken off net.
As to "You've got the webmaster in your pocket", I take personal offense
to that. Somedays I wonder why the hell I put up with this and this is
one of those days. Jim K has done more than anyone else to support this
forum financially, but if you think that I can be bought for a few
thousand dollars, then you're sadly mistaken.
If you don't like the way this forum is managed, instructions for
unsubscribing are at http://www.gmcnet.org/gmcnetguidelines.html#RULE6 -
if you can't manage to figure those out, let me know and I'll help you,
just like I've helped hundreds before you. There's lots of room on the
internet for another forum. Knock yourself out.
It's another rainy Monday in Georgia and I'm in a foul mood. There's much
more I'd like to say, but it's better if I just STFU and finish my morning
coffee.

Patrick;
I agree with you and know how hard it can be dealing with folks.
As for Jim K he has always been a stand up guy to do business with.
Just one example of how he takes care of his customer.
I call him and asked if he could change out the final drive on my trip from
Alpine "San Diego County" to Bend Oregon about four years ago.
Sure come on by was Jims replay.
I pulled in late in the afternoon , told Jim I would spend the down time
with my sister in Berkley.
THE next mourning Jim call at around 9:00 AM.
Come and pick up the GMC!
WOW what a guy.
Jim and Nick worked all night just so I could get back on the road ASAP "Now
that is SERVICE" again thanks Jim and Nick.
Plus all the support Jim has give all of us owners.
Patrick, Jim K and Jim B don't let them see you sweat.
Just smile and move on.
Yes I know easy for me to say, harder for me to do!
My two cents.
Thanks
Howard

I am with you Howard. I can not say what all Jim and Nick, along with Donny and Alonzo have done for us. Without them I rather doubt Teri and I would be putting so many miles on the GMC. They go over it with a fine tooth comb every time we are there. Worth every dime we spend in fuel to get out there.
All of my working career I was involved with, what shall I say, disruptive personalities. I vowed to myself that when I retired I would no longer argue with anyone and try to always be a nice guy. My job did not allow me to always be nice but I felt I was always fair. Was not my fault when some folks chose to go back to prison, although I did lose sleep over a few of them.
I find it very easy to be friends with everyone on this net. Not only do I get my questions answered here I always get several e-mails offering assistance. Normally the first note I get is from Jim K. Guess who the second one is from, very often? Yep, Gordon.
It is tough to be in buisness in such a small market, and especially in these hard times. By using only the forum I never mess up and send a private e-mail to the net for everyone to see. I think that has caused a few problems here when that happens.
Anyway, hope everyone can work things out and we can move on the the matter at hand, keeping our GMCs on the road.
By the way, we will have a large gathering in Quartzsite in January. I hope many of yall can make it. If you live out west, check with Chuck G. I think he normally has a hand in getting things rolling. Good guy, Chuck, as he married a Missouri Girl.
I am done. Hope I did not bore you to death.

Larry,
I don't know what happened either. But, I do agree that too many of the
posts get off subject rather quickly. For people that have time to stand at
the internet water cooler then it's OK. But there are others that don't have
the time to read through everything to find out if there's anything.
When the Jims get mentioned, I read. I wish I hadn't looked at this one,
however. It was in poor taste of Gordon to post a personal issue in a public
manner. That put Kanomata in a defensive position. Now, Jim should have just
taken it aside because he really needs no defending here just as Bounds
needs none either. Their work and concern toward the GMC community is well
known. Many more people appreciate them than not.
As to Patrick -- he has the keys and, as a result, can say whatever he
chooses. In my book, the guy with the keys always wins.

Patrick & Jim K. -
Just remember one thing - There's at least one in every crowd!! AND you can't please everyone no matter how hard you try.
Patricks answer was excellent - If they don't like the the program, find a different one or better yet, start your own.
Just keep up the excellent work Guys. Don't let the people that don't like what you Guys do dissuade you.
