I have seen several posts recently about the cruise control unit and was wondering if there is any service procedure that will prolong the life of the original type of unit. Specifically, can it be lubricated, and, if so, what type of lube works well?
Thank you.

Quick n dirty - take your ohmmeter and test it by checking the wires as they come out of the column. Should be a plug in the three wire line you can unplug to test, get the sequence from the manual. If the switch is bad, not an uncommon happening, check with Chuck Boyd and see if he has an extra from steering column/wheel replacement. If not, hie yourself to your local Men's Mall and find pretty much any GM product from the 60s - 70s. They're all alike.
