G’day,

As I understand it the correct part number Alcoa wheels for the GMC is
160231. They also make a part number 160232 which are rear dually wheels.

Differences:

1) 160231 convex side polished - 160232 concave side polished
2) 160231 valve stem faces convex side - 160232 valve stem faces concave
side

Questions:

Does anybody know if the 160231 and 160232 are dimensionally the same?

Are the 160232 dually wheels hub centered and is the bore the same as the
160231?

You're wondering why I'm asking, well here Downunder the chances of finding
an Alcoa for a GMC is slim to none; whereas we might stumble on some dually
wheels!

Rob,

The 1602-31 rim is a "front" dually rim.  The 232 is a rear rim.  Ask them for 6 front Alcoa rims and they might have it, the number for the classics (the only one they still make) is the 1602-31.  You will also need to buy the special lug nuts (139987), the lug covers (SP03) and the center cap (1602).  I don't run the center caps, I have seem them rattle and come off, they do look nice thought.

I spoke with Alcoa in late August and asked about their ceasing production.
I was told they do stop production for 3-4 months and then start another
production run. When I turned my "recall" Alcoa's in early September,
they were just starting another production run and Alcoa shipped 7 new
Alcoa's to me within several days; they did so just on my word that I had 7
qualified wheels. I purchased 6 new tires and Alcoa paid for the dismount
of the old tires off the old wheels and the mounting of the new tires on
the new Alcoa's (plus one old tire to use as a spare).

The only difference between these two part number is that one is polished on the opposite side than the other, I think, for regular dually trucks that would have the deep dish point outwards on the rear wheels.

Hi Dan,
The 160231 Alcoa wheel is polished on what is commonly viewed as the outside. The 160232 Alcoa wheel is identical to the 160231 except it is polished on the opposite side for "dually" wheel applications.

Unfortunately, I have not run across a 160201 Alcoa wheel as related to GMCs.

This article is quite helpful with respect to Alcoa wheel information related to GMC. I hope this helps:

Dan,
How did you work out that those numbers were the ones that Keith Lee was
trying to compare as they are not the numbers he entered?
His numbers had me confused.
