Has anyone added a air filter for the cabin air?

I have not. I think the approach might vary by year group. I too have a 77. You could probably rig something from a newer GM over the pass side intake area under the hood, but would have to prevent it from getting wet and then not flowing. That would cover all setting but MAX where air was drawn from the small rectangular opening under dash. You would need to build a larger reducer funnel duct to hold another filter as that small area would not flow enough with a small filter blocking it. The overall risk is cutting already marginal flow on 77-78 and making poor flow worse on earlier years.
