A little more info about the electric wiper kit: Anyone receiving the
current production base plate will find that it's not quite like the photos
on the web site. After the last 94 base plates were cut, we learned that
Cardone is now selling NEW motors. But they created a problem -- the
motor-gearbox connection is larger than on the OEM motor. That connection
protrudes beyond the mounting points where the gearbox bolts (3 bolts) to
the base plate, keeping the motor from seating properly. To eliminate the
interference, our base plate manufacturer "lopped off" the right side of
the base plate. That eliminated the problem, but left the base plate a
little less "aesthetically pleasing" (to the eye of this designer) than
before. Sorry 'bout that -- just keep the hood closed! :-)

How about a part number for the Cardone motor, Ken?
If I need to "lop" off part of the base plate I bought
several months ago, is there a pattern of the new plate
which would guide me in the process?

Mac,
I'm sorry, we don't have the P/N for that motor. Google search for 90-96
Lumina APV wiper motor yields LOTS of sources and very good prices. We've
no way of knowing which will return the new Cardone design. Only one
customer has received it, AFAIK. Based on that one problem, we acted out
of an abundance of caution, hoping to save everyone trouble by modifying
the base plates.
Before installing your base plate, try bolting the motor to it, without
torquing the bolts down. If the motor flange at the gearbox touches the
base plate before the 3 mounting legs do, you'll need to cut/grind away a
little of the base plate -- the location will be obvious. The interference
isn't much, but could cause distortion and eventual problems.
HTH,
