First off. I want to thank John Lebetski for bringing me an alternator belt for the GMC. I had a possible issue with my belt on the way over. Thank you so much John. It's always been a treat to have him show up. And the others.
All went well except. Linda, and I didn't communicate well to each other. The Yenko got registered to be judged. Instead of the GMC. What didn't help my judging numbers. I was road racing the Yenko. 10 days before leaving for the show. Did find out of the registration error. When I found 14 paid, professional judges at my car. The lead judge told me. That the track event. Moved me from a gold, to a silver award.
( As to judging.) You're not competing against anyone. Your award is based on how close that you get to 1000. There were about 100 awards given out. 502 cars there. And my little Yenko Stinger got one of those 100 awards given out.
I got home. To find many questions in private e-mails. So, this well make replies simple. There were 502 cars displayed this year. From 40 states, 3 Providence, and 4 cars flown in from Europe. About half are delivered to the event. By Reliable Transport. Many owners have a staff of about 5. Hired to clean/prep their car for the show. Then stay with the car for the next 6 days. Lots of polishing, whipping, and feather dusters used. A few owners that I talked too. That hire all this done. Say that if they spend under $19,000. They're very happy.
To be invited to attend. You must have documentation. To prove that the car is what you say it is. And must be the best of the best. And don't bother to apply to be excepted. If you had the car there in the last 3 years. I get invited back every year. Due to the extreme rarity of our Yenkos. And I bring a different Yenko each year. That takes care of the 3-year rule. As to the GMC. That comes from being nice, and respected in the muscle car world.
Had a good time. Nice to be able to pull lunch/supper from the freezer. Then a few minutes in the micro wave. Next a cold mixed drink. All while parked in the convention centers carpeted ballroom. Then to be doing all this in a muscle car only, and Corvette only show. Life is good. Have photos. If someone wants to put them up.
