I Have '76 Eleganza II that has seemingly attracted every clueless DIY fix-a-upper (I include myself). I want to remove the rear seat as they appear to want to remove themselves through the flooring and I need to a)repair that area and b)renovate/replace/modernise/update to a more permanent bedroom arrangement. The basic problem I have is where to start on the seating removal as there has been so much undisciplined and haphazard approach to this bus that I am getting to the point where 'one step forward is nearly always 2 steps back. So where do a find the seating retention bolts?
Many Thanks
Bart

Bart,

Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum......

This is an amazing community of helping and supporting people. To this end, please build and include a sigfile that has your name, a short about the coach including major mods, and a geographic location. this last is because you probably have some old friends that you need to meet.

Do not be put off by the forwardness of those that may contact you. Everybody here has a not so hidden agenda. That agenda is to see to it that you get to understand both what the coach can do for you and the pleasure it can be. It is much more than a big new toy solely because of the community that it connects you to....

This community reminds me so of the watermen of my world, that I like to welcome new owners here much as you might be welcomed there. So,

May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her...

Welcome Bart

Matt - helping with setup at the international convention.

On a Palm Beach model with the rear couches/bed setup, there are two large allen headed bolts under the skirts at the front of each seat.
Lift the seat slightly and remove the bolts. At the back "wall" of the seat there's a horizontal slot that sits between two parts of the frame. The slot is just wide enough to fit over the aluminum angle riveted (or screwed/bolted - don't recall) to the front of the cabinet (or the opposite side dummy cabinet).

When you've removed the two bolts at the front, you'll have to wiggle the seat forward while moving it through different states of fold up/fold down. It's a tight fit in the slot but you should be able to get it to release eventually. Repeat for other side.
