I have this Atwood 6gal propane water heater that I installed in 2012. I put a timer in series with the 12v power. When I get up the morning I set the timer to 15min, enough time to heat the water for shaving and breakfast dishes, but will not run all day. Until a year ago worked perfect. Lately, I set the timer for 15 min, and after 10 minutes the flame shuts off and red light comes on. It will then cycle 3 times trying to restart. It does restart all three times with flame but only lasts for about 10seconds, and then will not restart. If I shut power off for 10 minutes or so, it will restart and run for the additional 5 minutes I need to get water to desired temp. I have replaced the igniter when I found that the ground had broken off and worked Ok for about three times out, then went back to shutting down after 10 minutes. Any ideas? TIA

Larry,
There is a sensor on the back side of the tank that senses the temp.
See if you can fool it and see if it will stay on lot longer.

Larry,
Does it not have a thermocouple that confirms there is actually a flame? It that were bad it would shut the gas off as you describe.
Do your cooktop & furnace behave normally? I would think another possibility is low gas pressure.

Thanks for the suggestions, but new thermocouple but will try fooling it, and cooktop is working as expected. Havn't used the furnace in years now.
