The old one is starting to split - AC works great - Any recommendations would be appreciated for our ’76 Birchaven.

New shrouds aren’t cheap if it isn’t too far gone and you need a project you could cover it with a layer of fiberglass and resin followed with a coat of paint

It is easier to repair on the inside rather than the outside. Rough it up
with 60 grit, clean it with methyl ethyl ketone peroxide or similar
chemicals like acetone, then use fiberglass mat and epoxy resin. Let it
cure, then use a good body filler on the outside, sand and repaint. Good as
new, except for being 40+ year old plastic.

I bought 2 new covers for my penguins, didn't think it was that bad.
remember any crank will act like a wick and suck a surprising amount water in.

I don’t know about the Coleman but on some of the more modern air conditioners you can actually fit the original shrouds from the Duotherms to them.
The original shrouds were made of a heavy fiberglas, almost indestructible. You have to drill some new screw holes but it is a close fit.
So, if you know of anyone replacing their original air conditioners get the old shroud from them.
