Thank you Burl. Everything seems to be fine, and could not find problem. The tilt wheel mechanism is broken and I heard something drop down the steering column tube and suspect a piece may have temporarily jammed the switch in the "start" position. I had a similar problem with my pickup, starter wouldn't turn, but would try hard.
I eventually tracked it down to a seized alternator. Took off the belt and it turned over fine, but not before swapping batteries, boosting,
charging, and thinking my starter was fubar'ed.
