As soon as you start to crank the ONAN, the solenoid fuel shut off makes
one "click" and then the resulting output voltage at the control board
provides the 12 volt D.C. for it to remain pulled. When the Onan is turned
off, no 12 volts D.C on the board, and the solenoid plunger retracts,
making another "click". Usually so much noise associated with starter and
related stuff, that those clicks are hard to hear. Easier to hold on to the
thing and feel them, than to hear them.

Good point about the fuel level. I'll probably leave it until I get more fuel, it's a backburner project anyway.
What I would like to know if what is the normal sounds to hear when priming the system? I got the fuel pump thumping/ticking, but never felt/heard the solenoid valve click. Is the pump supposed to stop thumping once it reaches pressure?
Burl,
If I hold that solenoid valve I can usually feel it, I would say I can't hear, my hearing is a little better than KenB's.
The pump will click pretty fast until it gets to pressure, then it slows down a lot. If you can hear it were your prime switch is, don't even bother cranking until it slows down. If you have doubts about that valve, take it out. While the APU package was designed for GMC, it was sold to other coach builders and many of those had a possible fuel level that was above the carburetor, thus requiring a solid shut off for safety. One of the BFs in my collection seems to never have had one.
Good luck on a muffler, I know JimK has them (of course), but if you find a small engine shop in Canada, they might be able to help. Unfortunately, that specific version of Onan was not very common in stand alone power.

Ken Burton wrote on Sun, 28 March 2021 00:47Yes the gasket is part of the fuel filter kit I referened before from NAPA.
This gasket I need now is for the carb float bowl, not the filter. Looks like someone tried to seal it with some goo that's not quite compatible with gas or something.
I found a kit in the parts list, ONAN 146-0185, I'll see if I can get it locally, if not, I'll add it to the list I'm making for JimK as he has the gasket by itself for sale.
I also found out the screw at the bottom of the carb bowl is not a drain like in other carbs, it's basically the main jet adjustment.

Burl,
Two things here.
If you have the gasket in there, you can use that as a drain, just don't turn the screw that is in that plug.
If JimK does not have that gasket (or you want it sooner), that carburetor is an Walboro LMB and they were used all over. Find any small engine shop and he probably has a bunch hung on a nail.
Good luck cleaning off the RTV.

Matt
Just wanted to point out a difference I've found in American vs Canadian service.
I contacted or went to 4 different small-engine shops locally. None of them had parts, none would even look up or order parts, let alone having a bunch hung on a nail. They just said they don't deal with ONAN and told me to order parts online. Canadians might be friendly, but I've found in some services, we don't try very hard.

Burl,
I guess that is why I have clients still calling me when I officially closed the shop 5 years ago.
When in my barn next, I will see if I still have a kit there. If I do, I could put that gasket in an envelope and mail it to you in standard mail.

Thanks Matt, but that's ok. I can order one online, I was just trying to source locally and wanted to vent.
