There's plenty of info out there but most of it seems to be related to coaches that have the factory trailer harness. Ours does not (at least it does not have that RPO in the glove box and I don't see any additional wiring inside the LR tail light access or along the rear frame rail). Is there a guide on how to tap into the existing chassis circuits the "right" way? The driver side plastic panel is off right now so it's an ideal time to attack this.

Matt,
I think I'm going to stick with either surge brakes or brake buddy. Not too concerned with the blue wire. I'm really just concerned with lighting. I'm going to take one more good look in the LR taillight access to make sure there are no surprises in there.

I THOUGHT I did that and did not see anything in there a few weeks ago but I'm going to give one last look today. I do not have the trailer lighting option listed in the glove box. Is it normal to have the harness even without that option from the factory?

It is a plug that is actually a bit lower then the drivers rear tail light. like almost floor level....accessed from inside. what year coach?? almost a T like deal if I remember right, and had to take that plywood apart a little to really gain good access to it. T's off the harness in that corner and the wires for trailer lighting should exit the body in that corner.
if it is truly not there, it is just a matter of tapping into the correct wires at that rear corner. (3 wires. Left turn, right turn, and a tail light). Brake lights are the same wire as the turn signal wires- just go brighter when you hit the brakes. 4th wire(white), is just a ground, you want to make sure that is tied well to chassis. you can buy kits off amazon, or most stores that supply trailer wiring. -

always buy a good wiring kit. There are some from like harbor fright, that have think jacket wires and thin copper inside.
