Some coaches have as many as 5. They are all different. Which position are
you looking to build?

I know what he said but is it over the rear window, over the stove, over the couch, over the dinette or over the windshield?
I have seen them in many positions

Did not intend to cause a fuss - front, behind passenger and driver. Since I am asking, a plan for the cabinet above the rear window.

Thanks

I built a cabinet above the rear windows several years ago. I did not draw up plans but I could. Let me work on it. Meanwhile I’ll send you a picture. I have the bottom just above the window so it doesn’t block the view.
For behind the driver if you can find two cabinets from the rear sides that someone has removed and you can mount them together and they exactly match the single cabinet on the passenger side. That saves a lot of work. Some people have built larger cabinets in the rear and have the original cabinets to sell or give away.

I have a template for the ends of the overhead cabinets that I built out of 1/4" mdf that I could make duplicates of if someone is interested.

That is quite a bit different from the one that I built but it would work fine.
Mine does not drop below the top of the rear window.

I have a cabinet that I have taken apart. It was coming apart so dismantling it was not a problem. I like the idea of using two smaller cabinets together - much easier to install. I thought that sometime in the past I saw that someone had created a plan for construction. It might provide ideas for alternate construction.
Thank you for the input.

Les - When you mount the cabinets to the ceiling you will not have threaded fasteners that are swedged into the ceiling and the other ceiling mounted cabinets use.
A good alternative is to use a U-nut. Drill a hole up through the cabinet frame and then reach under the ceiling panel and just slide the clip over the hole in the ceiling frame member. When you put the cabinet back up the bolt will go into the hole and engage the nut and this will hold you cabinets tight. This is also a good thing to use where the threaded inserts have gone bad in the ceilings. I have had about 3 of these in use now for over 10 years and they work fine.

Here is a picture on the internet: https://cliphouse.com/av10050.aspx
I bought them at Autozone and I am sure than many autoparts places carry them as well as hardware stores and probably Amazon.
