It would be good if we got an official word about the international in Paterson..
Facebook doesn't count. I don read it and may never again.

We may well have already scrubbed Paterson because of rising fuel cost here and add a lot of expense to that long an excursion.

I am planning to get to more of the Great Laker and other nearby rallies if we can, but we are also looking at a lot of interference from life.

Seems that the convention will probably be cancelled. I think that the major factor being that with Covid restrictions, the max capacity of the convention hall is limited to 75 people.
A nice alternative would be to have a no host rally in Destin Florida for the whole month of May.
Sun, suds, sand, and smokers(the cooking type)!
Scott.

Destin in May sounds interesting -- providing camping space is available.

Just yesterday, after having the GMC parked for over a year, I cancelled
all of its insurance and put its registration into suspension. I should
have done that in March, as it was an easy, painless process on the USAA
web site. And re-start promises to be just as easy when our vaccinations'
effectiveness has kicked in. GMC cancellation and some needed eliminations
on the two cars saves us about $2000 per year on premiums, and reinsurance
in May should only require a couple of keystrokes!

Oh yeah, one possibility for a no-host rally might be a military
campground, like the Blue Angel Park at NAS Pensacola. We've held one or
two Dixielanders rallies there in the 158 site campground. We've got
enough retired military members to host guests (under past rules, which
might have changed).

Here's the location: Approximately 9 miles outside of the NAS back gate
and off of Hwy 98 just before the Lillian Hwy bridge to Alabama. GPS
coordinates for the Blue Angel Marina are Latitude North 30 38.57 and
Longitude West 87 42.82

Something to think about...

OOoops! I forgot: GMC Sunshine Statesmen and Dixielanders have a rally
planned at Jekyll Island, GA during 13-16 May 2021 -- slipped from 2020!
Can't miss that to go to the Panhandle! Hot June?

When I said official, I was hoping for the word from a club officer or the like. People are trying to make things happen up here, but the state's empress is stuck on keeping our lives miserable.

Nothing personal, and I am not sure it will matter as fuel prices around here are already climbing. We may be hard pressed to afford a 3Kmi season this year and in the future. This all makes life interesting(bar). Bar as in digital true low.

I have some hope for Chippewa Falls, but even that is a fuel cost issue.

Ken,
Do I need to make reservations for Jekyll Island or what? I hope to use the GMC for the first time this spring and that sounds like a nice trip from where I am (Tampa Bay).

Pete,

I bet you do or at least have the chapter make them for you.

I have only seen the campground in a drive-by. It looks real nice from the road.
We did stop to see the sea turtle rescue operation and that is a very good stop. Other than that, we were there visiting sailing friends that are snow birds from our current area.

I expect that the Golder Ray will be cut up and gone by the time you get there. She was a huge RORO. (Roll On- Roll Off) car carrier that fell on her side in the channel and the solution to getting it out of there has been to bring in a huge rig and cut the ship into pieces and haul them off for scraping.

If you are not on the GMCMI mailing list, you missed getting the word about 10 minute ago.

Patteson is cancelled. I can say I am surprised and I did have an unofficial (but a real good source) yesterday. I didn't think it was a good idea to spread more misinformation than is already available.

So, Onward and Upward to Chippewa Falls. Lets hope that our Canadian members can get loose by then.

Looking forward to a good time.
