Thank you to everyone who keeps this page going - any group can be rewarding and demanding. This is a unique online community, in that I would guess a vast majority of participants know at least one other participant in real, tangible, non-digital, physical life. Many, if not most, participants know dozens of other participants. And if you do the six degrees of separation kind of thinking, almost everyone can link to almost everyone.
It's not just up to the administrators here. A little acronym that is often titled "THINK before you speak" encourages all to ask themselves
Is it True
Is it Helpful
Is it Inspiring
Is it Necessary
Is it Kind
Admins have a tough job - people post stuff all the time that can be debated or have opinions, some of a technical nature, some of policy, etiquette, all kinds of topics. How we live our lives impacts how we use our coaches, so it is not as simple as it first seems to even deem something "GMC specific". It sometimes proves useful for people to post a "minority report" or factually false information (You can run 12 inch trailer tires a lot cheaper than load range E! Try it!) to then see the community response and correction. And then there are times where we trust our admins to keep stuff out of the shared pile of interaction.
All this to again say THANK YOU to the people who make our GMC motorhome community, and this forum, worth being a part of!

I never found the few non GMC posts to be a problem. Some are kind of funny, some a little troubling and most are amusing.
They brake up a dull day. and give us all something else to think about.
Not up to me but i say keep them. They do no harm.

This has nothing to do with Patrick or his views on "merits". It has to do with preserving the camaraderie of the GMC community.
Patrick and Billy are the moderators. Please Google "moderator" for a clearer understanding of this thankless job.
This forum and mailing list are for GMC content, not venting and spewing.*. Disruption should not be tolerated, and this is as it should be.

I've been on GMCNet almost continuously since 1998. I have been known to
bend Patrick's rules just a little from time to time. But, I
wholeheartedly agree with his adamant enforcement of them. Without them,
we couldn't maintain the peaceful, friendly environment we always enjoy
here.
Thank you, Patrick, for all these years of peaceful entertainment and
education.

I too, stray off the beaten path from time. But I heartily agree that there
should always be GMC content. When I stray too far afield, either Billy or
Patrick herds me back, and sometimes none too gently. But not until I
should have known better and " shut my mouth". Sure hate to look out my
living room windows and see my once used in 2020 GMC sitting there all
ready to go. We had to cancel all our rallies and gatherings with the
coach, and a river cruise in Portugal on the Duro River through the heart
of the wine country due to the pandemic. Surprised that more of us aren't
"gone round the bend".

Michael,
While you may not yet be an owner, we are happy to have you here.
If you do not have a lot of working capitol, one may still be in your reach.
If you have available the initial purchase, the most of the rest is sweat. In this, sweat gets billed in a full shop rate.
Do you have technical skills about the level of a yellow canary?
Are you literate enough to read and follow directions?
There is hope.
Lastly - Do you have somewhere to store a coach if one became available. (At your end of the scale, paying for a storage lot is not a good idea.)
So, connect with a local chapter. Often coaches go on sale when the owner can no longer manage her. In such cases, they often become available at a very low price because the owner whats her to have a good and loving home.

Well I might not be poor but certainly not rich.
Worked as a toolmaker for 45+ years 4 kids through college and one divorce.
I bought my GMC 4 years ago to use as a camp with wheels manly being used for one to three days at a time.
The GMC is bigger than I need but works for my needs.
Bought it from a lady whose husband died. He loved it she did not so they bought some kind of huge RV, Freightliner truck I think.
His son told me his father was always polishing the wheels.
Anyhow cost $5000 plus new air bags and tires drove home 500 miles ran good.
Changed the overhead Air and added one where the rear roof vent was.
New refrigerator, inverter and two 6V house batteries.
Tuned the 455 and onan. new onan control board
So about $10000 total + or -.
