One of the reasons I bought my spare coach was for the awnings. Mine didn't come with any. I have installed the driver side window awning and it has what Zip Dee refers to as a "case". For those, like me, who don't know what that is, it is the aluminum case (slats) that the awning rolls up into. The entry side, large awning doesn't have the case. The fabric goes all the way to the awning rail. Is this something I should be sourcing out? I assume it's to protect the fabric from the elements but are there any other benefits?

TIA for the input gang.

Shawn

Probably your best bet would be to call Zip Dee to ask... Been a few years since I called them with a question, but when I did, they were very helpful and knowledgeable.

If you'd like to hear a guess from another owner, I would thing the aluminum protects the awning from weather, as you say, but it also protects it from the 75mph or more wind from driving your coach down the road for thousands of miles.... I would think that sort of constant wind could stress or fray the fabric over time.

Shawn,
I'm sure you do not have a ZipDee on the Patio side as they all came with
the cover.
Send me a pic of the Patio side awning , then I will help you.
Text me the pic at (408) 639-0737

Jim,

I will send you a pic tomorrow in the daylight but I can assure you it is a Zip Dee. It is clearly identified on the main arm caps.

Thanks for the help.

Your correct.
It is a ZipDee.
I will find out the cost and get you 12% off should you decide to get one.
There will be some measurements we need when we order so we will not be
surprised.

Thanks for looking into that for me Jim. Geez, nothing is cheap these days is it?

I'll be in touch when I figure out what I would like to do.

The awning is still totally functional the way it is so may just leave it alone until I decide to replace the fabric.

Thanks again.
