Gang,
To de-scale and paint the frame and boggies is it better to un bolt the boggies and clean, or best to keep them attached. If I take them off, I am sure I can do a better job. I just don't want to get into a new alignment.
These will be opinions I am looking for. I know they will differ and I want to and will respect everyone and their opinions.
As always thank you!

Tom,
No question you can do a better job by removing the bogies for chassis
painting. BUT, you'll probably find that the shims which were/are used
for bogie alignment adjustment have disintegrated by rusting away. When I
R&R'd mine 22 years ago, I had to make new shims -- to unknown dimensions
because of the rusting. One of them seemed to need the 1/8" steel bar from
which I made it. Fortunately, the bogie alignment doesn't seem to be very
critical -- mine has never been aligned (other than toe by bending the
arms) since that ridiculous exercise and I've never noticed adverse tire
wear.
If you do remove them, bushing replacement should probably be done while
they're off, saving another R&R.
