slowly recovering from covid i have WAY more mental than physical energy.

So I got thinking about a way to automatically level the coach.

I'm thinking a plumb bob hanging between four contacts that completes the path to ground for solenoids to release air on the front side and solenoids to add air to the bags on the aft side.

When the plumb (or the bob?) is centered it makes no contact and the coach is level (assuming you get the front wheels pretty close).

The whole thing could go in a bit of PVC pipe and the length would determine the sensitivity.

Seems simple, i can't be the first person to think of this.

Hardly worth the effort. Just put a hoppy level on the front side of the refer cabinet and one on the front. It only takes a couple of minutes to level especially if the bags are full from the start of leveling.

I knew somebody would say that Smile

But really, 50 years of modifying these things, can we honestly say all of those mods were "worth the effort"

Microlevel is a system that Keith Vasilakes manufactures.

It does campsite and travel level with incredible accuracy.

http://www.gmcmotorhomemarketplace.com/vasilakes/microlevel_install-operation.pdf

It’s one of the top five enhancements I’ve made to the coach.

That is exactly how a tilt switch worked on realay type pin ball machines. The plumb bob part was conical with a vertical rod through it and a set screw so you could move it up and down to change the sensitivity. When I was in my teens almost 60 years ago, I had a bunch of those. Me and a friend use to pick up old pin ball machines and strip them for parts or fix them.

Sounds like a "tilt" mechanism from a pinball machine might work.

Yes. Microlevel does the job.

Press of a single button and it levels the coach. Press the other button and it sets to ride height.

Has a nice remote that I pull out and use when dumping black tank(squat the rear of coach). or getting gas(tilt coach to passenger side for better
Filling)

Working on other coaches. It is nice to have good air compressor(big viair) and the new lines and valves. Changes in height are fairly quick.

Working on another coach with an oem comprssor it works, but takes minutes to lift and complete changes. Not seconds.

Didn’t mean to take the wind out of your sails . My gmc was easier to level just by using the hoppy levels then leveling my diesel pusher with the auto level system because I usually end up still adjusting it a bit after it auto levels. Hard to beat the early gmc level system with JR’s bullit proof valves

Man! you look away for 1 minute....

Dave, heres something to think about on the pinball leveling system.
G Forces.
Every time you start, stop, go up or down a hill your pinball leveler will be Hitting tilt. Not really the best solution. You really need to measure the suspension height, then filter the cr*p outta it. Check out this graph of what the suspension does going around an S curve

Dave

From a user level, the system is terrific. I pull in, I hit the “camp” button and I’m level. Push the button again to hold.

Ready to drive, hit the coach button and you’re ride height.
