Yesterday I had a look at a local coach which has been sitting in a gent's shop at his home since he passed. '77 Palm Beach, interior is OEM and pristine. This coach has been used and maintained properly. Boots are good, grease has been applied. Battery is dead, but dated 3-18 so I suspect it's been run in storage. Clean oil looks new. Clean trans fluid with no odor. Front brakes have a full reservoir (rear of MC) rears have leaked down but MC is wet yet. No noticeable drips underneath I could see. Frame has spots of surface rust, no damage. The kid supposedly 'watching' the place took the rears off one side and tried to air them, both blew out in the middle of the tread. Stock wheels and tires, 16.5. I powered the 110 and the A/c units seem to work - they're original. Water heater draws current, I turned it on and back off because the coach looks to be drained. Buzz box is shock mounted, draws current but output was 3.9V dc. Maybhe due to dead batteries, but no buzz, it wants fixing or replacing. Paint is excellent and shiny, in keeping with the gent's other vehicles. While I was there, the lady handling the estate -niece - Had a guy from the Studebaker Club inspecting a Grand Turisimo '62 Hawk. They agreed on $7500, he laid the price in hundreds, loaded the Hawk, and headed out. A win - win. Coach needs rear brakes I expect, the removed wheel hubs were seized to hand turning. I hadn't a wheel without tire to put on to try turning with a crowbar... I think the brakes are seized to the drums. Belts are new, all hoses need to be replaced, they're not barrier hose. A small crack in the front inside cap over the mirror. Curtains are good, a few rust spots on the bottom curtain rods. Paint is new ans shiny, likely waxed. There is a slight layer of dust from sitting which will hose off. One air bag up, one deflated. Lower interior door panel has a hole in it, panel would be easily replaceable. Last tagged in 2012. Radiator is clean, fluid clear green. Electro -level with side panel switches, compressor looks brand new, but is OEM. Without 12v, no way to test One air bag is up, one deflated. A couple of wires loose around the hi fan relay, and a couple of overheated connectors. I suspect the kid, who has partially disassembled several of the classic motorcycles there yanked them out of ignorance. He has been ordered to stay the hell away from the coach. I saw no add - ons, so correcting them will be simple. I told the lady as it sits, 2500 is a fair price. Fixed and running, 10K. She wants it gone so the property can be sold. It's in Clermont, GA. It's a bargain in my opinion. Questions? Comments? If it doesn't sell, I told her I'll come get it and haul it home. Billy has some pictures, hopefully he'll post them here. My computer is FUBAR, so I'm using my wife's. Email isn't working for me.
