Hello all,

I am leaning on the Michigan clan here.

I recently purchased a 1977 GMC from a dealer in Michigan. The GMC was titled as a "Trailer Coach". I found in the Michigan regulations where a mobile home prior to 1978 is a "Trailer Coach", but can not find the same for a motorhome/RV.

Can some on point me in the right direction or do I need a new corrected Michigan title.

Thanks in advance,
Tom

The State of Michigan Certificate of Title, issued 07/20/98, for our 1976 GMC shows "Body Style" as "Motor Home". You might have to visit a Michigan SOS office to have it corrected.

Thank you Richard. I am trying to fix it from here. If I am successful it will save Sam and I a lot of work. I believe he still has another 23' Birchaven for saleso it is good to not have it happen on the next title as well.

Take care,
Tom

What are they charging you for the annual registration? It might be less than the right one. You might want to leave it alone.

Tom,

"From Here?" So, I guess you are not in Michigan.....
That is unfortunate. If it were a Michigan coach, you could get either an Historic or Authentic registration both are less expensive than most and the Historic issues a current style plate but labeled as Historic and an Authentic requires that you acquire a year of manufacture plate. Historic is good for ten years and Authentic for as long as you own it.

Both have the restriction that the vehicle cannot be a daily driver, will only be driven to events and shows, for testing and repair and the month of August. I figure I am always going to a show (there is open house at every rally Sunday), so if need be I show someone the calendar of GMCMI events. Why am I in Yellowstone on the way to Chippawah Falls? Nobody said I had to go the shortest way.....

Thank you all.

It will be a Maryland Historic tag and hopefully my title guy will be able to correct the title from here. I sent him a photo of the VIN plate and a photo of the motorhome and have not heard back from him.

I will report back the out come.

Thanks again,
Tom
