Gents,

I am reinstalling my bathroom and getting to work on the plumbing; waste part first. At the junction where the 2" male piece fits into the actual black tank fitting(2" female) through the floor, there is a fair amount of slop. I felt inside the female fitting and it feels as though there is groove for an o-ring. I suspect you aren't meant to glue this piece so it can be removed later if necessary so it makes sense an o-ring would be utilized. I noticed when I pulled it out the PO just had it smothered in silicone.

My question is; assuming I just need an o-ring, is it some sort of specialty o-ring or any department store jobber will do? Or am i simply wrong about how these fittings go together?

Thanks.
