Does anyone know the bolt size that mounts the front engine mount to the crossmember?
Thanks

Grant,

The front mount fastens to the cross member with 1/2 studs and nuts. I had the studs come out of my front mount, and I really did try to put them back with the engine on the frame. I gave up. I separated the studs from nuts, jacked up the engine and put the studs back in the front mount and set it down again. Then it was easy to get the nuts started.

I am looking for the Bolts that mount through the cross member and attach to the center of the front Engine mount. I belive they are 5/8 but non of the bolts I removed match.

Grant,

Don't be looking for a bolt (hhcs). You are looking for two each studs and nuts. The nuts are shoulder prevailing torque lock nuts which is why they take the studs out with them.

Exactly what Matt said. They are supposed
To be studs out of the motor mount. And you remove 2 Nuts.

However. 50/50. I have pulled out a few bolts too. If someone else has had your engine out,
They
Might have out a bolt in there.

A stud
And nut is much better when taking engine in and out and wanting things to aline.

The studs (not bolts) you need, GM part #390403, are special studs with a large shoulder between the two threaded ends. You might be able to jury-rig something with studs and a stack of washers, but I'd recommend checking with one of the Jims, or Cinnabar, or someone with a parts coach. Don't know, but maybe a Toronado would have the same parts. (My old 1980 Chilton's appears to show the same front mount on the Toronado).

Yes you are correct there is a bolt / stud what ever you want to call it today and a nut that hold the rubber mount on to the mounting plate the mounting plate or " front motor mount" is attached to the front of the engine right under the water pump. now can anyone tell how one will secure the mount and the rubber isolator that is attached to the front motor mount to the frame cross over? there are two bolts that screw into a metal plate that is held in place by the rubber isolator.

New Front Motor Mounts - GMC Motorhome at JIM K site, WESTAR EM5450 or DEA / MARMON RIDE CONTROL A5034 there are 4 holes, the two outside get a stud and a nut and possible a couple washers and the two internal that mount from the inside of the front crossover though the crossover to these threaded holes on the rubber " front motor mount" threaded holes get what ? 5/16" - 1" ? 3/8" 1? 1/2" -1"?

I never have used it on the front center, I'll try it tomorrow.
