THANK YOU TOM !!!

I have been anxiously awaiting this development and am ready to plug it in.

I've got what might be an early version of the Mercedes fan controller - the temperature setting is done with a small wooden screwdriver (toothpick). I don't immediately recall where the temperature sensor is - but I kinda recall that it's in the christmas tree hole (TVS).

Might I be so lucky such that this is an easy replacement ?? ie very similar wiring...

1973 23 footer, Griffin aluminum radiator, all Patterson (HEI) ignition, Patterson carburetor, 3.70, Digipanel, 100K miles.

Thanks again !!

So how healthy is it for the fan clutch valve to be rapidly opening & closing like that switch in your demo video?  I would love to know how Mercedes manages it in their computer software. Sent from my U.S.Cellular© Smartphone

In my discussions and investigations with BorgWarner who designed and developed the Fan/Fan Clutch Assembly for Mercedes Benz. The module I have created emulates the PWM Frequency and Duty cycle they use. In addition to the turn off and turn off temperatures from the on board Engine management system they have an ability to write programs that start the fan at Low speed and as the temperature rises they can increase the speed. Quite a feature! With the age of our fleet of coaches, I don't believe we could write a program (algorithm) that could cover all the requirement ranges. Besides, I'm just not motivated!

Some how an earlier posting did not arrive on the Forum. So I will update you:

I am building 10 modules this week:

1) Some of them will be for retrofitting the Dumb Controllers that were shipped by Jim At Applied. These will be Called "FAN 2 RETRO" and will include new wiring, Radiator Probe/switch, MB connector. Sorry old wiring and temp probe must be discarded.

2) Some of the them will be for EFI users. These units will use a "trigger to ground" or C2 on the EBL ECU. I'm reasonably sure other
EFI can use the same feature, yes? These will be called "FAN 2 EFI"

3) Some will be used to replenish the depleted inventory Applied GMC inventory of Full kits. SEE: https://www.gmcrvparts.com/product-p/g46104.htm

My experience with the switching for over 20,000 miles has not
effected that as it cycles about every 50 miles or more depending on the
conditions.
