We saw that at the rally in Texas.

All I can say is that if I had an half of a million dollars to spend on my coach, it would end up more functional than this thing.

This is the coach that was in FMCA magazine 2+years ago and the couple was taken to the cleaners, they had more money than brains! The GMC coaches were bad mouthed in general because of all the problems that were created when this coach was screwed up by the up fitter doing the work who had no idea what he was doing with the GMC. Was very top heavy, floor plan sucked interior was heavy, the coach drove like POS and never handled enough to be safe on the road. Couple donated the coach to the museum so they could right off the cost of the coach. FMCA the in the next news issue publish a letter from GMCMI corrected the faults that were perceived by this couple because of the poor thought that went into this rebuild. It is where it is should be in a museum and not on the road.

I don't think that "thing" should be in a "RV/MH Hall of Fame and Museum" that purports to show "a variety of historical recreational vehicles from Airstream, Winnebago and other American makers". In my opinion, they should be exhibiting a stock GMC Motorhome and not something that started out as a GMC but ended up being a Frankenstein Monster. That "thing" gives us proud GMC Motorhome owners a black eye.

The other one in the video isn't stock either and should not be in the collection.

I can tell you that when you overload one side, the coach will not behave
correctly.
When we went to International and loaded most of the heavy parts and kit
behind the driver area next to the window, it would not drive very well and
thought we did not set the suspension correctly.
When we got back and unloaded most of it and went on a shorter trip, it
drove well.
When our customers want me to bring parts to convention or rallies, I would
rather ship it to them and share in the freight.

I agree Matt!
if I had a half million to spend on a coach it would drive right, look great and I'd have $450,000 left over!

My feelings exactly, Richard! When I visited the museum after the Fall 2012 GMCMI I was none too pleased to see a GMC with a Topeka Graphics paint job and Alcoas. A year or two later I ran across an absolutely pristine Palm Beach on eBay that had spare everything. Spare engine and transmission in factory crates, spare window curtains, spare exterior decal stripes. Through a GMC buddy with some connection to the RV/MH museum I approached them about swapping out the Topeka GMC for the Palm Beach. They had absolutely no interest and did not care at all about the OEM correctness. Very disappointing.

I was appalled by the GMC Black Travesty©️at Paterson. Nice craftsmanship, but so many bad, bad decisions. Hearing the owner telling someone at the open house walkthrough "If we can't get the handling under control I don't know how we'll be able to keep it." This after the seminar where the interior company rep said they'd put in 2000 hours! The exterior company had the coach for a year. Mind boggling.

There was simply nothing else the owner could do but donate the coach to take the write-off. Just too bad that it's at a museum that's open to the public...

Richard
