Bob Dunahugh one posted to this list that you can use copper washers at the transmission to help seal the lines. He got an assortment of the washers at Harbor Freight for about $8.00.

I used his idea for the lines on my power steering pump. They really help where you have a steed to steel connection. When tighten in they form the cone shape of the fitting.
