Re chain cover, excellent point, Jim.

'Had that problem after having the TH425 rebuilt at about 100K mi. 'Took a
while to conclusively identify it as the source of the leak (about 1 pint
into a large oil drip pan between trips of 3-6 months.) Did not leak during
trips... 'Had C'bar replace the chain cover gasket about 40K mi. later when
I had them replace the OEM "403" with a Paterson "403". That was four years
ago; no drips from TH425 or "403" in the meantime.

If yoo did the gasket and sealant correctly and wait for15 minutes then put
in fluid,it should not leak fron the pan.
Look to see if it can be from the rear chain cover.
