Hey all,
Currently in the middle of a frame-off restoration of my grandfather’s 1973 GMC MotorHome. Ordered a new Stuckey frame but COVID has made getting it into the US quite a chore
I’m looking at the parts book frame section and on my (relatively early) coach there are three extra plates that span the front two crossmembers. These don’t appear in the parts book diagram. Maybe they’re the unshown “dinette seat belt brackets” mentioned in the parts list?

Don,
I don't have those on my '78 26' coach, but it looks like part numbers 711516 and 711517 bracket assemblies - dinette seat belt anchors, described in the parts manual are only for the 23' coaches. You're probably right, yours is a 23', isn't it?. Good luck with the restoration.

This is from an old thread re frame differences and may be the answer to your plate question. If you still have the build sheet for your 1973 or if you have a glove box sheet you may find this option listed.
Per David Greenberg, originator of the GMC Registry
"There was a base frame reinforcement option introduced at/around
TZE063V100860 RPO F11403 Also, 1978 models had gussets added to the chassis
to increase capacity."

You should visit bdub.net for comprehensive GMC information.
I found this frame drawing in the 1974 brochure and it shows the three plates.
http://www.bdub.net/publications/1974_GMC_Motorhome/1974_GMC_Motorhome_Offerings15.html
But the plates don’t show in the 1973 brochure.

My GMC is a relatively early 73 26 foot. My grandfather bought it brand new back in 73 and it was in active service until around 2001. I took a few trips in it as a child and loved it. I’m now in my 20’s and want to get it back on the road.
The VIN is TZE063V102222
Is there a comprehensive catalog of factory options somewhere? I love reading about that kind of stuff. I’m very into restoring classic cars and enjoy all the lore around vehicles.

Yep, that’s us! My grandmother Catherine “Kitty” Beckstein was the primary owner after my grandfather passed away in 1980. She was an avid GMCer until she passed away in 2001. She was even president of a club, Heritage Cruisers. We have a plaque with a little golden GMC hot wheels on it with her title. I wonder if anyone on here would’ve known her...
I will snap a picture of the glovebox sticker tomorrow so I have that info.

I have a 1974 Coach and I have those plates Too. (26-6 floor plan) They are there for the seat belts for the door side (Rear) of the main dinette. You will notice that the cross member is not in the right place for a seat belt anchor. The one closer to the center Is for the sinner seat position of that same dinette seat.
The One on the driver side is for the second single dinette (Bed) that was one of the floor plans available ( Mine was) Again, the seat belt anchors to about the center of those plates.
26-4 26-5 and26-6 Had the single bed and dinette in the floor plan.
But I suspect the barrel Chair options may have had the same anchor plates.

Don,
We are really glad to be of what assistance we can, but please fill in a sigfile. When you have a little time, go to <Control Panel/Account Settings> and then click on preferences. Find the place to fill in a sigfile. Put in your real name (we like to know who we helped when we meet), a short bit about the family coach - include major mods because it may matter and a geographic reference because the half that read this as e-mail won't see the Buffalo. Then scroll down to <update> This will make it easier to get the good answers here.
73s were the first year and they (I should know)a collection of special situations that you should be aware of before you get too far. Because of the early production, there are a few suggested mods that you should pursue early on. Not the least of which would be to replace the points with Pertronix 1181LS. If someone tells you to change it to HEI, be ready to carry a whole set of spares for that and pummle the air filter housing into submission.
There are a number of owners not far from you and just by being here, you may attract some attention. They can be valuable just as native guides.

Back a number of years ago Dave Greenburg and I traded information many times trying to solve the many unknowns at that time (there were many). The "Base fram Reinf spe" as was shown on the Service Parts Information (glove box sticker) was one of those mysteries that we were not able to solve correctly. I believe with the present questions about "the extra brackets for seat belts" you have now nailed it.
Here is a little history as I know it:
The EARLIEST 1973 GMC MH I have listed with the Base Frame Reinforcement is TZE063V102060. (Date 082373). If you know of an EARLIER 1973 TZE number please let me know what that TZE is (hopefully with a copy of that GB sticker).
The LATEST 1974 GMC MH I have listed with the Base Frame Reinforcement is TZE064V101133 and I suspect these continued thru the end of the 1974 model year (I don't have data on later 1974 models, again if you have a later 1974 with the BFR, same as above).
Starting with first of 1975 models (built starting 07-1974) and all years beyond, the Base Frame Reinforcement ID goes away. Many changes were made at that time for the 1975 model and I believe this likely was one of them.
In looking at the Glove Box sticker for the period of 08-73 through 07-74 look under "options" for:
23'- F10404
26'- F11403
Helpful feedback appreciated,

Sir, I also had issues with posting pics to the photo site in about the same time span as you. In my case I found if I open the photo site on my older Galaxy Samsung phone and sign in and post pictures directly from my phone they will go and can post up to 6 pics at a time. If I send the pics to myself thru email or message and save them to my Win 10 or Apple Safari they will not load saying pics are to big.
pjburt wrote on Sun, 09 August 2020 21:57Grrr I haven't been able to post photos on the photo site for 2 years. I give up.

See attached picture:
You can make your won frame rails, I don't know what your tool suply is like, this is what I did to make rails for mine.
1. At a steel supplier buy a 6 x 6 x .187 wall square tube the length you need.
2. Need to rip cut the tube into 2 channel. I used a Skill saw with carburandum thin blades from a welding supplier or home depot or ???
3. After old frame is disassembled choose the best rail and clamp it back to back to the new rail. With a transfer punch mark center of all the required holes.
4. Unclamp the old rail, and drill pilot ( 1/8 or 3/16 ) with drill press or by hand, make certain to be on center.
5. Clamp the 2 new rails back to back, transfer pilot holes and proceed however you can to the 1/2" ( .500 ) size required, in steps or directly.
6. Clean rails of burrs, rust, or ?. Paint or powder coat or ? your need for your area.
Hope that this can help you. I had to deal with cross members in the sub frame also.
