Haven't run the Onan in a while so yesterday I pulled the drawer out to do a quick check before starting and loading it down. I spotted some of that greenish stuff on the connection under the Onan on the mounting plate. This is the INSULATED high current hot lead that splits out power from the house battery and goes up to the battery boost solenoid. When I grabbed the hot cable from the battery and pulled on it I noticed it was loose and there was some electrical arching. I immediately shut off the cut off switch for the house battery. The only way to really get at that connection is to take the Onan out. So, I pulled the Onan out of the compartment. The bolt thru insulation of the power lead was nearly all gone as it wiggled around in the hole. There was considerable evidence of arcing around the mounting hole. Looks like I dodged a bullet. Had I started the Onan who knows what might have happened. So, I spent the rest of the day cleaning up the area, replacing and rerouting cables.

Maybe everyone out there should at least check this insulated connection. With all of the GMC'rs out there that are running their Onan for house AC, this is a potential fire hazard. Be safe everyone.
