Sorry guys, have another question on something I discovered when I was under the motorhome checking the battery and starter cables. I saw the box frame had some sizable rust holes in it around where it hits the front cross frame just in front of the axle. I know that the battery may have caused some of this rusting but this looks a little concerning. The hole is on the inside face of the box frame just forward of the cross member. The outer part of the box, appears to be a thicker c-channel that the boxed in with plate steel seams to be pretty good, but the plate steel on the inner face of the box is rusted out in the bearing point area. You guys had this condition? Other side (drivers side) looks fine.

Fairly common where the use winter salt on the roads. Not so much here in
the Pacific Northwest, except on the coast. Frames are all 40+ years old,
and showing their age. Treat the rust, and reinforce the frame, or replace
that side of the front frame clip is the cure.

Todd can show you how to weld supports over the area as he runs a body shop
and familiar with GMC MH.

Well attempted to upload a picture but apparently the upload size limit is way too low to upload pictures from my phone. Even when I select the smallest file size on the pic. I have not uploaded pics on this site so maybe I need to get into how this is done. The TR6 forum I’ve been communicating on allows you to upload pics from your phone.

One sided rust like that is indicative of battery slop - usually overfilling - over the years. Shine it up wit a wire brush, and take a look inside for condition there. I've a quarter inch in diameter borescope camera with a light which was 17 dollars on ebay for looking at stuff like that. If inside isn't too beat up spray it with POR15 and then have your friendly welder reinforce the whole thing with some heavy plate and go about your business.

Yep Johhny, was thinking for sure I want this repaired. It just appears to be more rust on the inside face of the box than I’m comfortable seeing. I’ll see what can of repair service I can get for this.

Sorry on the pics, had trouble trying to upload them. I’ve got a friend taking care of it. He own’s a body shop and says he’s fixed this kind of thing many times before.
