Cost, Your Comfort Zone, and what are your plans for use. As to the 1ton. 5years ago. I put one in a friends GMC. Last year we pulled it out. And went back to stock. The 1 ton went to Marion Iron for scrap. It's doesn't meet ASE standards, As to approve suspension geometry. I put Dave Linzi front knuckles in. With the grease fitting. Then you'll have a real lifetime bearing.
To spread the cost. Replace one at a time if they seem reasonably good. Comfort Zone. Is what makes you comfortable to go somewhere safely. With full expectations of getting back home again. Safely. Our present 78 Royale is an example of a comfort zone to an extreme. After a fire 5 years ago. In our first 78 Royale. We put $42,000 in just parts in this second GMC.

I put Lenzi rebuilt stock knuckes in my royale right about when the 1 ton was getting popular. at first I was sorry I didn't do the 1 ton, but I'm a suspension nerd and now am glad I didn't. the 1 ton has easily replaceable bearings, but the rest of the system is worse.
Mainly, as I remember, The camber curve and the roll steer have issues

Camber is waaay better with the 1 ton. The other stuff you only encounter
if you are driving the motorhome aggressively, which I would NEVER
RECOMMEND with such a tall and heavy vehicle that was not intended to be
operated in such an aggressive manner. If you want to drive like that, get
yourself a bug eyed Sprite, and equip it with a roll bar and 6 point
harness.
You can improve the coaches ability to stop and steer by several
magnitudes. Start with the back of the coach. If you have an early coach,
remove the bogies and replace them with late model stuff. Throw away the
drum brakes while you are at it, Put on discs, along with reaction arm
brakes and rear sway bars. Don't forget the old air bags or shocks either.
The quadra-bag system is guaranteed to stiffen up the rear suspension, too.
Then, you can start on the front end. Start with urethane bushings
everywhere. Then replace everything that looks like a tie rod end with
heavy duty components, "0" adjust the steering box, if it is worn, have it
rebuilt by a competent rebuilder like Redhead in Seattle. Use an adjustable
drag link, make very sure that there is absolutely no play or stiction in
the relay arm. Check the hydraulic steering dampener, replace it if it is
shot. Replace the stock front sway bar with a heavy duty version, and
replace the links and bushings with urethane. I already mentioned what to
do with the hubs, knuckles, ball joints, eccentric upper rear most caster
bushings, etc. Don't forget those front shocks, either. Lastly, wheels and
tires. Premium fully machined aluminum wheels and high quality radial tires
with fabric sidewalls and steel belts under the tread.
Then, if you can afford to put gasoline in the tanks after spending
all the money on the suspension, take it for a drive at 55 mph and wonder
where the heck all your money went. It is a "BLACK HOLE" otherwise known as
a GMC motorhome. It will now handle about 1/4 as well as that bug eyed
sprite.

Not mixed up. My cell phone thought that camber sounded better than
caster. I meant caster, for sure.
